They added it because Microsoft said they supported it the day after the FAQ came out. Nothing more.

Of course, Microsoft has to support it as soundtrack replacement has been a popular and widely used feature dating back to the original Xbox (but apparently a little used feature on PS3 from what my friend told me).

Which is why it's good to have both PS4 and Xbox One around. They keep each other honest. It's how the Xbox 180 came about (Sony keeping Microsoft honest).

It's a very little used feature because it has to be supported by the game. Many devs just choose to not support playing music from the XMB.

You can edit shared videos on PS4. Just select option when selecting video you want to post. See how in below link!
