I like it when Farsight shows some statistics.

Check out this list of our top 20 tables in order of popularity and the average score posted.

I'm a little surprised that HRC is the 4th most played table. Totan first, followed by Addams, and then the newest table (Jack*Bot) makes perfect sense to be the most popular ones. Was HRC the free table of the month perhaps? The other tables are no real surprises, except maybe Big Shot on nr 8. The scores must be wrong though. I don't believe those are the average scores posted, even if they would include scores posted by people using the trial versions.

I like how one of the two Ems in the game is in the top eight. Especially since Farsight has been claiming that EMs don't sell well. And Genie is on the list too, which kinda plays like an em.

About SST, the average isn't even as much as the ramp skill shot haha. It awards 10mil.

But I forgot about all the people who rage quit. (me!)

They were included with very popular tables.

Even so, Scared Stiff isn't even in the top 20. I guess that you can make the argument that people bought the table pack for Scared Stiff, but happened to get addicted to Big Shot instead. Or that people play Big Shot more because a game of it doesn't last forever. But still, there should certainly be more than 2 EMs of the almost 60 tables in TPA.

Yeah it's cool to see both Big Shot and Genie up there. Both are great tables! Scared Stiff I find kind of dull tbh.

Ragequitters shouldn't be in the average as they don't post their scores, right? Otherwise I'll take the blame for lowering the average :) :) Still, all those scores look like a skill shot and 2 ramp shots. And that's on 3 balls :) On average!

Hold on. FS knows what tables I'm playing in any particular time? Do they also know how often I reset after a house ball 1?

I wonder if the reason HRC is so popular is a lot of the people (think non-pinball fans) who download the app see pinball in the same vein as gambling (a common misconception, I've had people at arcades come up to me and ask if you can win money on the machines), so immediately go for the gambling-themed table.

If this is counting by games played, it makes sense that Big Shot and Genie are up there. Games go by very quickly on those so players play a lot of games. Conversely, Twilight Zone and Monster Bash probably represent a larger share of playtime than their positions indicate, since games on them run longer.

Those "average" scores are impossibly low, though. 110M on AFM? No way, something's not right there. One saucer kill is 300M and even random flailing gets you that! Must be doing something like counting every house-ball restart as a game played.

And I agree it's a bit unsettling to think that TPA phones home to report every game started?

Well it "phones home" for every completed game to update leaderboards/HoF/etc. so there's not really that much difference. I agree some of those scores are impossibly low for a completed 3-ball (or 5-ball where appropriate) game, but others are pretty accurate. Maybe they are culling from the leaderboard update logs (which makes sense) and there are a lot of very, very, bad players out there....

Which ones would you say are pretty accurate? To me they all look like 1 house-ball. I'd wager I can beat any of those when I'm hung over with my eyes closed. And this is supposedly average scores for full games between all players.
I started a game of Genie now and plunged all 5 balls full strength, didn't flip or nudge at all, just let em drain. My score: 76.770. The average is supposed to be 42.369? I must have shot a decent game then! ;)

Actually, being a data wonk, I'd love to see each percentile score (1st through 99th) of each table (as well as the mean), updated weekly and made available in the app. That would be great for figuring out challenges to play for. For example, pick ten tables at random. Can you score better than the 50th percentile on all of them? The 80th? What percentile can you reach? Or, you could give yourself the number of points for each percentile you reach for each of ten random tables. Got to the 68th percentile on High Speed, you get 68 points. How well can you do over ten random tables? I would LOVE that.
