If you get a chance see if we'll be able to import our normal pinball arcade tables into after dark. Would love to see um all in one app. All that pinball goodness to scroll through.

The podcast we just put up, where we talked about this for a while, I plan on bringing up most of that to Bobby. But then I also know a few of the employees there listen to our podcast, and one even said he thought what we said about switching between games quite interesting.

They absolutely need some portal to go between games. Whenever I play, I generally select 2-4 tables. I don't want to have to go that far out to change games.

Nice to hear. I'll have to find that podcast. Looking forward to the response if you get a chance to ask.
Thanks

Depending on the platform, it may or may not be possible to switch between apps without backing out to the main menu.

There is nothing adult in that table at all. Guns and helicopters, that's all. The woman on the backglass is quite well covered up compared to some pinball machines...

True, it's not as "adult" as other tables, for sure. I just meant the slightly sexualized female soldier character combined with the thematic gun/war violence depicted in the table's gameplay might be more worthy of an advanced rating going forward. In theory anyway. It may better fit the "After Dark" realm more than the standard app/game does. Just a possibility.

There's also the fact that... um... everyone hates it

Wait. Are you guy's talking about Gottlieb's Raven? Ugh! No! That table is NOT going to be coming TPA or PAD. Hopefully, none of the other Gottlieb "let's be lazy and use a real photo for the backglass art" pins either.

Who cares,; it's not like you can actually see the backglass while playing TPA anyway...

If we were getting two tables a month still I wouldn't be so opposed to the idea of "lesser" tables. But, with only one a month and the increased price I just don't want or expect these types of pins. And since I've gone way off topic for this thread, I'll discuss it no longer.

Speaking of "lesser" tables, and I may be in the minority here, but I would really love more EM designs. Big Shot made an excellent "cool down" table after playing the flashier modern tables. I was hoping if the two table packs were continued, that older EMs might occasionally make a reappearance if combined with popular DMD/SS tables. Now with one table per pack, it looks like the chances of seeing future EMs is looking very slim.

According to their explanation for the price increase for Season 3, tables like Big Shot were "free" tables they just threw in there because they were easy to do due to having been in the PHOF games. Now, can you think of any EM tables with deep enough rule sets to justify paying twice as much now for compared to the many many SS games they could do instead? Ones like Big Shot I don't think would ever make the cut in Season 3.

I happen to enjoy the EM tables but there is a huge lack of diversity here. No, most probably aren't worth $5 as standalone tables, but I'm saddened none-the-less that our chances of seeing future EM tables is slim to none. I think they would still sell well as discount add-ons outside of the main season packs. $2.99 would be a fair asking price for EMs to remain competitive with their flashier counterparts. The fact that most are far simpler and far fewer playfield elements, no CPU and basic rulesets, means there is far less work in digitizing an EM machine. Yeah some people will undoubtedly say it's a turd but I'd love to see Humpty Dumpty or some other "historic" table get put in there. After all, they did Goin' Nuts of all things!

I don't think that should EVER be allowed to be used as an argument. Lol.

Although the SS DMD era definitely was more "my time" (the only <1985 pins I ever played were Space Shuttle and Eight Ball Deluxe), the 1970s were probably the biggest decade for pinball overall. Though most of the top sellers were the early solid state, this "golden age" includes the tail end of the EM era.

I would like to see more, but it depends on sales I'm sure. Big Shot is a solid 1970s EM sales wise (12K units sold if you combine with the 4 player "Hot Shot" version), and they have a few of the bigger old SSs (Firepower, Gorgar, Black Hole, Black Knight). So Farsight would have an idea how well the oldies sold I guess.

Personally, I play Big Shot fairly regularly, it's a nice "wind down" pin. Firepower's actually one of the harder Pinball Arcade games in contrast and despite being so simple is great for a challenge.

I'm thinking that the After Dark concept in part might be a way to get some oldies on, some of which had "non-PC" backglass artwork. (Nothing that would push my buttons, but I think I read someone say Gorgar's art actually was iffy under the E10 rating! Certainly the best selling EM of all time, Captain Fantastic, had slightly less-than-PC backglass art, if only in very subtle ways...)
