Good news to attract (hopefully) new customers. It will either be the second or third week. I have already told my friend about it and my other friends already have it. I am also a Homeling and have a vast array of new friends and ways to help promote this to people that normally spend most of their money on Home. Most limgs (except the old-timers lol) will at least try it. Now as for the average consumer who is too young to know pinball at all, even they will have a chance for free to at least give the core tables a shot.
So I believe this is good news for Farsight and the pinball community in general. Now I know someone will probably snipe or spin this their way, but that is not under my control. I will do my duty and spread the word to the masses. Thank you for listening. :)

That's cool. I got + for free for a year on my third PS3 so I'll be able to add it on there. That's also my 3D TV so once the 3D hits for TPA it will be nice to have on that PS3.

Hm... Will that include ALL the tables including future releases? If not, what if you buy some tables, and then eventually cancel PS+? Hmm...

Sony has that covered. Any DLC you buy you still have the user license on but if you decide not to continue your Plus membership then you'd have to buy the core game in order to use the DLC. But all the verbage on PSN games and DLC doesn't mention buying a game or owning a game. You buy a user license that entitles you to use the game for as long as the PSN has that game available or as long as you're a Plus member for free Plus games. Anyone that thinks that they own any game on the PSN is mistaken.

This week's free PS+ is the smash hit Sleeping Dogs. PS+ is an incredible program, one that every PS3 owner should be subscribed to. Free games every week (roughly), online backup of your save games, automatic patch updates and installs, automatic game downloads and installs, and so on. Tremendous deal for $50/year (or less).

Sounds like a complete ripoff to me. Would be better off saving your money and just buy the initial pack. Spend the rest of the money you saved on not buying PSN and buy yourself multiple table packs with all the money you just saved.

There was a brief period where it was really cheap - where buying 1 year of PS+ got you a 3 month bonus, and where every $50 you spent ($49.99 for PS+), they gave you a $10 voucher. You could get 5 years and spend $200, then use the $40 voucher for TPA DLC.

It would not be a good value if you only got + for TPA. But as a fairly casual gamer like myself it is a great value. There's always something new for me to play when I have time and most of the free games I haven't already purchased. The 1 hour trials are great for me also but also good for more hard core gamers. They can play an hour of the full version of a game before dropping $40-60 on it.

A ripoff? You get ~3 free PS3 games every single month. You get a dozen free games up front. And don't underestimate the online backup of game saves if your system crashes. I've been a member for 10 months. In that time, I've gotten Infamous 2, Saints Row 2, Bioshock 2, Street Fighter 4, Spec Ops: The Line, Sleeping Dogs, The Cave, Payday: The Heist, Just Cause 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition, and at least 15 other games for free. I got a $10 credit for nothing, another for spending $50. It's an incredible value, hardly a ripoff.

I bought my PS3 specifically for TPA, and that's all I'm interested in (apart from the occasional Zen table).

I might not call Plus a ripoff, but in my case "a waste of money" would be accurate.

Exactly.. Some people are never happy. Or believe their Xbox Live is king and nothing else comes close.

I am subbed to PSN Plus until 2016 and have been subbed since near the start. I now have about 25 free PSOne Classics which I can play on both the PS3 and Vita, 30+ MINI's, tons of avatars and themes (which are kept weather I continue Plus or not).

I'd personally pay more, but I got mine for $3.33 a month (bought it when it was 1 year for $50 + 3 free months). Then I got 2 more years for free when signing up for a PS credit card.

My membership has paid for itself and then some when my PS3 hdd crashed last year.
I would have lost 4 years of game saves had it not been for the 2GB cloud save service (included w/ Plus).
Sure I had some backed up to a USB stick, but you can't back up protected saves and rarely remember to make constantly updated saves.

Then you have it set to download game updates and sync your Trophies at whatever time you specify. It's really convenient.

Also, for those worried about losing all of their "free" Plus games you get some really nice savings each week. I bought all of the Sega Classics for 80% off. The Neo-Geo bundle at 50% off, and so on..
Those are bought and paid for regardless of my Plus membership.

Oh and 60 minute timed demos are nice and access to betas before anyone else.
I was really surprised to be able to play 60 minutes of Bioshock Infinite the same day it went on sale at retailers.

Epix (a movie streaming company) is also going to offer a free movie each week to Plus members. I'm not sure exactly how it will work, but hey... it's "free"! ;)

Really?! I guess if you hate games and don't like free weekly games and huge savings, then yes, it's a waste of money, but I suppose the PS3 would be a waste of money as well.

Your post reminds me of this for some reason:

I signed up for plus about 3 months ago when my HDD got corrupted and I had to reformat and lost like 80 hrs of gameplay in Skyrim and several other games that I had to start over. I didn't think I would keep it past the first 3-month period as I was mostly worried about more crashes occurring, but since then I've loved getting all the free games and am definitely keeping it. I had just recently gotten the iOS version of TPA, so it's a pleasant surprise that its gonna be available to me free on PS3.

Quick/dumb question that I probably already know the answer to: if I bought tables for iOS, will I have access to them on PS3, or do I have to repurchase? (I'm assuming its a no cause Sony needs their taste).

You cant transfer from iOS to PS3, although the PS3 does have crossbuy between itself and the PSvita, that's about the only way i know of transfering your TPA from one system to another without rebuying.
