Polly's Rescue - Rules

I never finished this mission so far. The main reason - at least for me - is the lack of a detailed rule sheet. The train goes left and then right again. When the ball drains the train goes rapidly back to the right. Ramp shots have an impact as they seem to accelerate the train.

I own the German version with brief and probably wrong explanations. It says that I have to stop the train with ramp shots but that doesn't reward anything.

Completing Polly's Rescue lights the extra ball. No additional points are awarded.

Hit 5 left or right ramp shots to light extra ball. Center ramp stops the train for around 3-5 seconds.

After completing Polly Peril once, the next award is 5+ Bonus X.

The number of ramp shots is configured in operators mode. The number you quoted is correct for for TPA default setting, but not guaranteed IRL due to location's operator choice. You are correct about 2nd Polly's Peril award.

The train acts as a visual representation of the time left. When the train reaches the left, mode over. You can stop the timer and train by hitting the centre ramp, as mentioned above.
