First, this may be a big SPOILER for tables to be in the upcoming Stern Pinball Arcade. So I've put new/unseen tables in a white font, surrounded by [*these delimiters*], and you can highlight the text to read it. I hope this is a good idea :). (NOTE: it's not a spoiler any more, so I've removed the spoiler "tags.")

The 1.49.9 update has a possibly pretty massive "leak" as to what's going to be in Stern Pinball Arcade. There's a new file called VRStern_Enums.csv that mentions these tables:
- in TPA: Frankenstein, Harley-Davidson, Phantom of the Opera, Last Action Hero, High Roller Casino, Ripley's Believe It or Not!, and Starship Troopers (aka all the Data East, Sega, and new-Stern tables in TPA).
- not in TPA: [*AC/DC, Ghostbusters, and Star Trek*].

There are some other words that might or might not be intriguing: gameroom, online, challenge, tourney.

Despite the facebook post that might have put some doubt in a PC release of SPA, I felt sure it had to happen, and this makes me more sure. I don't think you can make a PC release for VR only, can you? (I don't know anything about VR: I have some small interest in it, but it's a small fraction of the cost of VR stuff.)

I don't know about you guys, but I'm massively excited to play the new Stern tables. I have doubts of ever even seeing the three above, other than at shows or auctions that I probably won't attend. (I do wish that [*Game of Thrones*] was in this file, along with some older classics like [*LotR and TSPP*].)

Can you highlight the text between the [* *] and see the table names? This works on my PC but maybe you can't do this on other devices, I don't know.

I'm trying to be careful with spoilers/"leaks", and I've seen this convention on other sites. If highlighting doesn't work, let me know and I'll just type them regularly in a reply, down here someone shouldn't accidently see something they don't want to see. :)

All I did was zoom in really close. The text is a tiny bit whiter. That's pretty clever. Now the trick is going to be for us to keep our mouths shut while commenting. It's tough for me not to say which one of those I've played before

Interesting. And possibly meaningless in the grand scheme of things. I've played Star Trek and AC/DC, maybe there will be a Ghostbusters or two in Allentown.

I'm interested in your impressions, particularly: are they as good as WMS DMD tables? Close? Are the rules as canyon-deep as I've heard?

I've not played either enough to form real opinions on rules depth. Both have nice flow, but you'd expect that from Steve Ritchie tables.

As far as art packages go, they're not the worst Stern has produced. Not as pretty as Metallica or the new KISS or Spider-Man Vault though.

You definitely can make VR exclusive titles and that is what everyone is doing. It's basically a new console that needs your pc to run.

Yes, what I meant was that they make exclusive titles that don't work on your pc without the right VR device.

Of the three tables predicted, two are Stern S.A.M. games, while the most recent game is a SPIKE system game. Don't know if they will emulate the SPIKE system, or if they can recompile the source code for Stern Pinball Arcade. From what the PinMAME people say, the SPIKE system would be hard to emulate. The S.A.M. system board has already been emulated by PinMAME enthusiasts.

The question now becomes, are these the Pro or Premium/LE versions?

My hope is it'll be both, and you pay extra for the LE, like we currently do for Pro Menu access.

But given it's actually a playfield change, it would have to be a completely different selection in the menu UI, like the upcoming Doctor Who Regenerated will be.

I hope it will be both pro & premium (LE) as well. If not please gives us the premium or LE editions. I'd hate to miss out on toys, stand up targets, spinners, or better lighting.

I just hope there are separete leaderboards for all the different editions this time. I'd have a good reason to go Premium.

Good to know the first three tables, I'm really looking forward to some AC/DC and Star Trek. Whatever happened to that GoT they hinted at?

- brand exclusivity and recognition: Stern may have had a strong influence in having their own app, makes sense from a business standpoint
- compatibility: maybe emulating those new Sterns make the app non-compatible with the emulation engine that's in place right now. They will have to make SPIKE and SAM work.
- pricing model and point: maybe also different from TPA, pay-per-play or just a higher price point in general?

It looks like we can just buy the tables outright (i'm ok with a higher price point). My biggest fear was that they were going to be a pay-for-play token system. That would have been a kick to the groin...

So why does this need to be a new game?

From the KS video it's not going to be emulated like TPA is. Since the chipsets in current tables can be as powerful as current gen phones, they are are just creating a platform that directly interprets the code used in newer stern games. Because of that, they will be able to add in features like dynamic lighting on mobile which was not possible before because of the emulation overhead.
