hi guys,
I just wanted to share an opinion with you guys to see how you guys see it.
I'm 35 and play videogames since I'm like 8.
I play old school games with the consoles or with emulation but at the same time I play modern games.
now the last modern game is gta5 but after that one I haven't touch my ps3 or 360.
usually I would buy a console day one but here? ps4? xbox one? it's weird but they don't appeal to me...
don't even mention the wii u!
for the past 6 months I haven't played a modern game and I don't even feel the envy to.
instead I play a lot of tpa (wich I consider somewhere between emulation and modern game) and a lot of old 16bits or 32 bits era games or old pc games.

do some of you also got tired from all this new modern era of videogames?

I play mostly old games on ps3 through re-releases. Pac-Man Museum being my most recent one. Though there are amazing modern games out there. Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen, for one

And ps4 and xbone don't interest me either. I have a wiiU but i never play it.

I'm 32 and I play videogames since my 7th birthday (on an amstrad CPC) and I think my interest for videogames has definitely felt during this gen. The last game I bought day one was Red Dead Redemption. And the last game I've bought was the GOTY edition of Skyrim (nothing else between these two, except TPA!). My biggest period of videogames was with the unloved Nintendo 64 (Rare's games above all), when I was a teenager.

I will not buy any new "next-gen" consoles, I just have no desire for it.

I'm stick with TPA anyway, which is such a good pinball game. And I play some old Lucasarts point'n'click too, time to time.

Well, I freely admit that I own a Xbox One,and play games regularly on my Xbox 360. That being said...

I just turned 45 & I have a nice collection of retrogames - going back to the Atari 2600 & Intellivision. Game Room on the 360 ate up a LOT of my spare time when it was being supported. Old games are just that - old. A great game from 30 years ago is still a great game today. You just need to be able to look at it the right way.

That's one of the reasons why I love TPA...

38, Yeah - I'm all about the retro gaming now and have been for about the last decade. I just counted and have sixteen different emulators running on this tablet. Even more on PC.
Latest one I found for Android is VpacApp - Phillips/Magnavox Videopack/Odyssey 2 emulator which is free to download here with 40 roms & instructions bundled...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gooh.vpacapp
Don't forget to rate it in the market. Nicely done app by a passionate fan of the console.

Only modern gaming I do now is Disney Infinity with my son. Oh yeah - and Lego (various) games.

90's through to mid naughties though, I was massively into the then cutting edge consoles and customising them.

I discovered MAME in '99.

I was searching for a PS1 game collection that had an obscure Konami game by the name of Circus Charlie. Imagine my astonishment when emulation popped upon my Lycos search. That's right. Lycos.

15 years later and I still play roms I downloaded that fateful evening.

I don't do nearly as much retro gaming as I used to. I love modern updates of old games - Pac-Man Championship DX and Galaga Legions are great - but generally play just new games. I'll occasionally fire up MAME when I need my Time Pilot fix though. I do love to read about old games though - I buy every issue of Retro Gamer magazine, for example.

I'm 41 and have been gaming since 1976 when we got a Pong system.

Retrogames all the way! I'm 37, 6' 1", 175 lb.

The new games make me motion sick :( Glad that the retro style games are making a comeback. Games like Spelunky and Terraria are top sellers. Rogue-likes are back in a big way, that and pinball is about all I play anymore. I'll tinker on some other games, but I've always been drawn to the dungeon crawl style.

I'm 25 and love old schools games, my dad bought himself the SEGA Master System back in the early days. He also had the Atari 2600, enjoyed both. Since then I always went out to buy retro consoles & games from market stalls. Now I mostly game on my iPhone, so emulators are a great way to take my collection with me (I like portability)

I do own a PS3 with GTA 5, but I never play it. I don't find modern games fun... Only for a short while then I give up and play retro games instead.

My list of consoles & handhelds: Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast (x3), Ps1, Ps2, PS3, Atari 2600, SNES, GBA, GP2X CAANOO.

* Dreamcast & Genesis are my favourites. I'm also looking forward to downloading the Dreamcast emulator to iPhone once compiling has finished. It's worth jailbreaking iOS just to play DC games again :)

I'm 48 and mostly prefer newer games. It's fun to play some of my favorite old games from time to time but I like the complexity of new games over the old. I loved Pole Position. I think in the summer of 1982 or 1983 I pumped about $50 in quarters into that machine. I only made about $10 a month on my paper route so I was spending more than I was making on just that one machine! But I still have more fun playing racing games on the PS3 and PS4 than I do playing Pole Position now.

Besides the Atari 2600 where I grew up with as a kid, I also used to own lots of lcd games. I bought a lcd Donkey Kong in Orlando on my first trip to the US with my parents, I must have been around 12 years or so. I also had full color lcd-table tops from game&watch, popeye and donkey kong jr. Later I bought an Atari ST, then Amiga with tons of games. I also had a portable Atari Lynx, a big heavy thing that drained batteries. On my first Apple I used to play Quake.
Games that made the most impression on me as a kid where Pac Man, Space Invaders and Dragon's Lair. Loved Frogger as well, and the vector games Star Wars ("look at the size of that thing") and Tempest.

I keep a 10+year old g4 iMac in a fairly convenient place so that I can retro-game when I've got a little spare time and no ambition for anything else. It's all MAMED up and ready to go. I also have Unreal Tournament on there, and a very unstable sega genesis emulator; the only roms that work are Madden '92 and NHL '93. It also runs NBA ’95, but every player on both teams defaults to Dkiembe Mutombo whenever there is a stoppage of play, so who wants to play that crap? Oh, Mutant League Football works, too. Those are probably my three favorite genesis games so it has worked out okay for me!

My fave old arcade games are Cyberball and Xybots, and those both work and I’ve managed to become adept enough with the keyboard that they’re very playable for me. Asteroids and Elevator Action are fun, too, but I’ve never been very good at either of them.

I tried to set up MAME on my intel iMac a couple of years ago, but it was a big hassle and I lost interest after about an hour of trying. It’s so much easier to sit on the sofa and play Gorgar! That Atari app has Tempest -- another favorite of mine -- and it plays better on the tablet than the desktop, where it’s pretty much unplayable.

Now that I think about it, I haven’t played any mame games since my daughter was born about two years ago. Well, there was one Unreal Tournament session a year or so ago, but otherwise I don’t think I’ve turned that old machine on! Now I’m worried. I should go check.
