I simply believe they cannot optimize this game correctly from its 360 port resulting in every table having its own unique look to cover up the fact they cannot program on the PS3. There said it and now preparing for the flames. Commence...

"cannot program on the PS3" is probably overstating things by quite a bit. That said, I forget which table, but there was one where they basically said "something happened" in the translation from 360 to PS3 and were mystified as to how it come out in the state it did. The mystified response from Farsight left many puzzled as it implied that Farsight had never even looked at the PS3 version.

yep, this is why I haven't bought any tables since Gophers came out. I"m holding out hope for the PS4 version.

I think part of the "haze" is actually the PS3-specific lighting effect--the one that delays the flippers by a frame at 1080p; I notice it on those rare occasions when I run the game in 1080, like I did yesterday to check out the new tables. All the tables look a bit blurry. It's sort of a weird aesthetic choice. If that's actually what it is, I'd like an option to turn it off.

Well, at least they should get Centaur on the PS3 right.. It's mostly B&W and red (all over). :p

Seriously though.. Farsight and Sony need to work something out so all of these DLC tables can be corrected once and for all.
Or as I said before.. it's time to introduce TPA 2.0. Time it with Stereoscopic 3D and the new menu which is supposedly in the works.
I just downloaded 40GB of Uncharted 3 so a few GB are really a non-issue.

It's not fair to these classic tables to have something as simple as the tint off on them, among other things.

The table in question where FarSight didn't know what happened in translation from 360 to PS3 is the infamous Black Knight. I was even shown what it should have looked like, and it was stunning. As for the lighting on White Water...the one they have up there at the studio is fully kitted out with LED lighting, the first like that they'd gotten.

We had this discussion before. The brightness seems to be partly depending on your TV, that's why it's probably looking great at FS but others (me included) complain about tables being too bright (Genie, AFM). This time the bumpers in Space Shuttle are a bit oversaturated but I can live with that.

And now you know why we want the brightness / gamma slider. It's such a basic thing and shouldn't be too hard to implement. Many games have it...

Regarding the blurred look - I have noticed this as well and it seems to be some kind of filter effect! When the camera zooms in, everything is sharp and beautiful. With a full table view details in the upper part get lost and you can't e.g. read some text anymore.

That's the way it is and unless someone can take his whole equipment to FS and show them what's wrong we cannot expect a change in the future.

I don't know how I feel about that. On Tuesday I said that WH20 had an LED look to it and now I know why. It doesn't look bad and I'd be a hypocrite to say that I don't like LED's since I stuck them in my Firepower but I might have preferred a warmer look of normal bulbs in digital recreations. All in all, I think WH20 looks decent. At least it doesn't have too bright center playfield and high contrast problem that CC and AFM have. I just hope the PS4 versions will be able to shut off all the GI like the way many of these tables do IRL.

Does the PS3 build of Space Shuttle shoot balls that are bouncing in the bumpers first wildly down the right outlane or SDTM ? I've found the android version does that a lot.

If you can go 60 seconds from the beginning of a game without using the right outlane saver, you're doing well. So, yes.

FS said it wasn't worth it to include demos of the DLC

are they afraid they'd lose sales?

Probably. A lot of the DLC is a bit hit and miss on the PS3 isn't it.. Sadly.

Where are you guys coming up with this load of crap?! They never said it wasn't worth it...what they said was they couldn't figure out how to put demos out with the way they have the game structured. Again this has to do with DLC and how Sony lets you do it. Zen didn't have demos of tables either, until they came out with Zen 2. There the demo is a full download of the table, and what you actually buy is the unlock key.

This is all part of the whole 'we can make changes to the game universally, but cannot make changes to individual games' thing. With the way TPA is currently set up, each time they add a table, they must update the game to hold it's spot. Were they to add demos, the game would have to be updated with those too, thus making the download even bigger each month. THAT is what they don't think is worth it, and they don't think Sony would be too happy with them either. You've taken this out of context and made FarSight look like a-holes.

We need FarSight to create TPA 2.0, and then they could alter the architecture of how certain things are done with DLC, much like Zen figured out.
