Thought I might share a build I'm working on this year - Link Fixed...

http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-the-galaxy

I have been a HHGttG fan all my adult life so I hope I can do justice to this fantastic theme.
Any suggestions as far as characters or Modes are concerned are very welcome.
I shall post regular updates to the above link until the completion date in August....cheers

This is coming to you from Australia - unfortunately I cant link up to the Aussie Site for some reason.
If some kind soul can tell me if the Link is going thru to Pinside it would be much appreciated .

Going by your tag and your affinity for making pins... was it you who also did the Tumbleweed conversion? Even if not, impressed so far by your work on H2G2!

Very nice build! I have never seen the movie, somehow I missed that one.

skip The movie until you've read the book. Easily one of the greatest reads you can come across, the problem with the movie isn't that it's bad, just that a lot of the humour of the book is best conveyed by written word where a movie hasto get a point across and move on with the plot, the book can lengee on a comedic point and develop it a lot better.

that said, if you miss the match, thecallout has to be"so long and thanks for all the fish"

Actually, I had an idea: Skip the theme, go straight to making a Zooey Deschanel pinball. Ta.

For those not familiar (I'd wager that's 99% of the people on this forum), Tumbleweed is an iconic (if not fairly "underground") Australian rock band. A picture of the Tumbleweed custom pin:

and some video footage.

Knowing you were behind that has me even more hyped for your project... good luck! Make sure you post about it on Aussie Pinball as well if you haven't already :)

I'd definitely love to see an Australian pinball-production scene. Is this machine intended to be sold and distributed worldwide?

I love it how you are designing and building bespoke pins in Aussie. Makes me feel all parochial.

I had to look up what bespoke meant

Likewise on "perochial" ;) Morgs should just go back to speaking Australian!

Stone the flamin' crows, it's beaut you blokes are making your own pinnies. Makes me want to go out and eat the coata arms I feel so bloody proud to be Stray-yin.

Oh, that's pretty cool then. I want to see pinball production decentralized from Chicago, and I noticed that all of the companies popping up lately have been in locations other than Chicago.

The manufacturing for Homepin machines (that company) is actually happening in China, but the company doing it is Aussie, and the design, art etc is here too.
If you want to look up the last (only other) Aussie pin manufacturer, Google up Hankin :)

Well, I just oppose geographical centralization in general of any business, as it promotes collusion between competitors and stacks the deck against any interested and talented people who cannot move to that location. Heck, I oppose centralization of movie-making in Hollywood, and I drive to and through Hollywood all the time.

Interestingly enough, I saw the movie before reading the book. The movie made me laugh, but it felt like there were holes that obviously needed filling, thus me wanting to read it. Unfortunately, I didn't like the book at all. I know, shoot me. I desperately wanted to like it, and I feel like such an outsider for not, but I detested the plot development. Things happened for the sake of happening, so that silly words could be used, and too many damn coincidences. Who knows, maybe if I'd read it when I was a teen instead of when I was 40, but I just didn't connect with it at all.

Commence shaming in 3...2...1....
