With all the talk surrounding which "horror" themed table will be coming out this month, it got me thinking about categorizing the tables currently available in TPA.

So far I've been able to identify 6 different genre themes broken down below: (Opinions welcome!)

  1. Driving
    • Harley Davidson
    • Taxi
  2. Monster/Horror
    • Creature from the Black Lagoon
    • Elvira and the Party Monsters
    • Gorgar
    • Haunted House
    • Monster Bash
    • Scared Stiff
  3. Movie/TV
    • Ripley's Believe It or Not!
    • Star Trek: TNG
    • T2: Judgement Day
    • Twilight Zone
  4. Sci-Fi
    • Attack From Mars
    • Black Hole
    • Firepower
    • Flight 2000
    • Pin*Bot
    • Space Shuttle
    • The Machine: Bride of Pin*Bot
  5. Sports/Games
    • Big Shot
    • No Good Gofers
    • Tee'd Off
    • The Champion Pub
  6. Western
    • Cactus Canyon

How would you categorize the remaining tables?

  • Black Knight
  • Centaur
  • Central Park
  • Cirqus Voltaire
  • Dr. Dude
  • FunHouse
  • Genie
  • Goin' Nuts
  • Medieval Madness
  • Tales of the Arabian Nights

I'm with Mr. brakel, it's all pinball to me.

However, I do think we need a "I fought the Law" theme. Some Judge Dredd and High Speed II would be very cool.

Cool idea.
I would probably stick the Twilight Zone and T2 tables under sci-fi.

Hopefully some day we will have this...

Animation:
The Simpsons
The Simpsons Pinball Party
Family Guy
South Park
The Flintstones
Bullwinkle

"Movie/TV" is a little too generic, I'd say, and doesn't really say what the flavor of the table is; I'd put all of those except Ripley's under Sci-Fi. Maybe "Travel" for Ripley's? Tables based on locations--current and historical--were pretty common in the EM days, like with Central Park.

I would also separate Games and Sports if we're going to get into a lot of EMs--although who knows, I suppose--because cards, gambling in general and pool playing were *huge* back in the old days, and the amount of tables in those could easily fill its own category--they also have more of an indoor lounge atmosphere than an outdoorsy sporting atmosphere.

As for the uncategorized list, how about

  • Black Knight - Fantasy
  • Centaur - Sci-Fi
  • Central Park - Travel
  • Cirqus Voltaire - Carnival
  • Dr. Dude - Sci-Fi
  • FunHouse - Carnival
  • Genie - Fantasy
  • Goin' Nuts - Cartoon
  • Medieval Madness - Fantasy
  • Tales of the Arabian Nights - Fantasy
  • Theatre of Magic - Carnival
  • Whirlwind - Disaster
  • White Water - Sports

Great thread gooche77: I would add one for Fantasy, one for amusement/Carnival, one for Travel and one for elements/disasters

That leaves only Doctor Dude (80' weirdos perhaps?)

Sotie: More tables themed on Rodents than Racing? I believe FS has some explaining to do! :D

I still say the Dude is more sci-fi than anything--you're doing through all this stuff to fire a transforming ray gun!
