4K support?

OK, I "solved" it.
The buffers are (still) set to 2160x4400.
But I swapped my playfield aginst a 4K monitor and set it's resolution to the recommended 2160x3840.
If I set the resolution to 1080x1920 the DMD cut-out looks perfect.
If I switch the resolution back to 2160x3840 the DMD vertically consists only of the half of the display and is shifted to the right. So you see parts of the playfield and the top left corner of the DMD.
The tables in TPA I played so far, look much better if the resolution is set 2160x3840.
So can we turn this bug report into a feature request to support 4K?
For me it looks like a simple switch to use different dimensions for the cut-out.
I'll add a screenshot soon.

I took some photos from the DMD on The Addams Family

Playfield resolution set to 1080x1920, buffers set to 2160x4400:

Yes this is not a bug, the mod is designed atm to work with the game resolution set to 1080*2200 only.

Just for clarification: The mod is designed atm to work with the game resolution set to 1080*1920 and buffers set to 1080*2200 or 2160*4400. (I updated the screenshot labels accordingly above.)
NoEx: Would it be possible to add a second mode that is activated in the settings to support resolution set to 2160*3840 and buffers set to 2160*4400? I think more and more people will go for a 4K Display as playfield in a cabinet.

Yes it's possible but it will require some work, I'll check this when I got some time.

Edit: when u're talking about playfield / game resolution, you're talking about the resolution set in Windows right? When I talk about game resolution, I mean buffers value, as I recall this is the only way to change game's resolution.

Exactly. I followed Rob Misner's wording in his setup guide.

Setting up your PC:
The resolution of the playfield must be set to 1080x1920.

Setting up the Game:
The game settings will require that the Back buffer width and Back buffer height maintain the same ratio as the default settings for the mod. Though the values recommended aren’t listed in the drop down menu, you can select each box and manually enter the proper values. All of these are valid and will work: 1080x2200 (default), 1620x3300 (1.5x default), 2160x4400 (2x default)

Setting up the Mod:
WindowStretch=293 This is the default value for proper aspect ratio. I Recommend not changing if you’re using a 1080x1920 display for playfield.

For a 4K playfield setup this would be the partly adjusted description:

Setting up your PC:
The resolution of the playfield display must be set to 2160x3840.

Setting up the Mod:
WindowStretch=586 This is the default value for proper aspect ratio. I Recommend not changing if you’re using a 2160x3840 display for playfield.

This setup works out of the box using the same unmodified cam files. Most of the tables look much better :)

The only missing piece is the DMD. As a workaround you can leverage dmdext to provide a DMD, but obviously that isn't the perfect solution for all tables. That's why I picked The Addams Family as example because it has this additional "THING" thing ;-)

It would be awesome if you find some time to look at this issue.
I can't estimate the effort for implementing the feature. But from the screenshots I assume that the coordinates for the cut out need to be adjusted. The top alignment is still correct but the height needs to be doubled.
The width for the cut out "simply" needs to be doubled, too. But the left alignment isn't correct. A rough estimation is that it needs to be shifted to the right about one third of the 1080 DMD size.
While the simple doubling of height and width seems to be obvious for all table's DMD / HUD, I'm not sure about the alignment.

The main problem is that I don't own a 4K monitor and can't set the Windows resolution to an higher value than 1920*1080, how am I supposed to test and adjust once it's implemented in the mod? :D

Anyway thanks for the extra informations, I'll see what I can do.

mk47: Maybe you can do something for me that would help me a lot to get the correct DMD size with 4K resolution. Start the game + mod with playfield resolution set to 2160x3840 and buffers set to 2160x4400, launch a table (Addams Family for example) then make a full size screenshot of the game window (you can use Fraps). I should be able to get DMD coordinates on your screenshot.

Edit: could you also make a screenshot of some other tables please? e.g. Frankenstein, its dmd is bigger.

Thanks!

Thanks mk47, this way I should be able to add the 4K support for the mod.
