What are Farsight going to do with all their tables?

What does everyone think Farsight are going to do with all the tables theyve amassed? Its a super collection already, and by the time a couple more seasons have come out they'll have enough to open a mini arcade! And if they continue indefinitely they'll run out of space surely?

Speculating here but if Farsight want to try other projects not related to pinball in the future, for extra revenue they could open a real pinball arcade, or could auction off some of the machines - not now I mean, when theyve finished with TPA.

Guessing some of the staff would want to keep their favourites!

Your idea of a mini arcade looks a lot different than mine ;) A mini arcade to me would be 4-6 games. If they keep it up for another 2 seasons, FS will have somewhere between 60-80 pinball machines, that's a monster arcade

But they will probably sell a lot of them, to make room for more. Makes good sense actually, business wise. For all we know they may already have sold some of them

I doubt it would ever happen but they could keep the machines and setup a traveling pinball arcade that could go to small convention centers...setup at National Guard armories and other such places they have small events and shows etc. Mainly in areas where there are no arcades to speak of. I'm in Indiana and there is virtually no pinball anywhere near me.

They could make a metric ****-ton of money and A LOT of people happy doing this if it were organized right.

Why not go all the way and travel around the world to see us Europeans, Asians, Africans and Oceania folks also when they are already on the road. Talk about a PR stunt ;)

I think the most you could ever hope is that they open up their doors up at Big Bear for some arcade fun for the fans once a month, or so (if we are lucky)

If they want to open a physical arcade, my bet is that they keep only a fraction of the tables in a new arcade in or near Big Bear Lake. Charge admission and keep the tables in free play mode. The tables may rotate in and out of that arcade as FarSight technicians or developers feel they want to work on individual tables. Plus, they could even have The Pinball Arcade set up in this physical arcade and solicit players' feedback on how it compares to the real thing. Not sure if this is worth the real estate cost necessary to keep active. If not, they may just warehouse them or sell them off if they ever run out of room.

if you ask me, i think TPA should create their own virutal video pinball machine that allows you to(with a push of a button) select and play any one of their digital replica's, the machine would have the classic wooden body, but instead of actual bumpers and balls, it would be a top down video version in HD, imagine this machine at pool halls and bars, it would be expensive to play at the cost of ten dollars a game but...worth the prize, play any table you like, but if you are the high score on the table desinated as the "1 year tournement table"(selected as such by TPA) in your country, you would win that actual machine, delivered to your doorstep. good idea huh?

I hope they haven't sold any tables yet Karl! Unless they've scanned assets at 4k which seems to be what size movie companies are re-scanning film at I doubt they'd be properly future proofed, perhaps theyve re-scanned them again though for the PS4 release even though we are a few years off proper 4k definition

Yes I agree of thier smart they scan the stuff at 4K (even 8K if they have the capacity), do like a final tweak for existing tables and just sell them. This way they can always come back and do Pinball Arcade in the future for future platforms. Like PS5 and iPhone 10S.

They are sitting on some serious assets right now as a company. Medieval Madness and Cactus Canyon, just two of thier machines could bank them 30K. The entire collection is probably approaching 500K right now in value.

I hear that FarSight is gonna hand over their collection to some old guy somewhere in the midwest. They had some sympathy for him because of the scarcity of pinball in his area and the fact that 95% of the tables are in real bad shape (Even ones as new as AC/DC).

I can dream can't I? :)

I think that FarSight is just going to keep these tables and tend to them carefully. They may be put in a 'storage mode' when they are partly disassembled, but they will make sure they will always have access to "the real thing" in case they ever need to create "quad HD / 4K" textures, use some kind of 3D laser-scanner, confirm any issues, etc.

Hopefully they will keep them so they can scan all of the artwork at higher resolutions for the next gen tables.
The current PS4 tables aren't cutting it in the screen clarity department unfortunately.
