What table was better than you expected?

Nice to see some nods for Tee'd Off. Especially with the outrage that its inclusion brought!

I don't mind Tee'd Off that much. I still like No Good Gofers far better, but for a post-EM Gottlieb, Tee'd Off isn't too bad.

For me, it's Attack From Mars. Prior to TPA, I'd never heard of the game so wasn't familiar with it at all. Knew nothing about it. Fired it up, didn't expect much at all. Now it's easily my most-played table.

Not sure if serious.....

Yeah, when TPA began I came from a pinball-free zone. So I was going on IPDB rankings and opinions on the forum for what the general consensus on each table is. Aside from that I was buying blind.

To this day, the only TPA table I have played in real life is White Water.

Dead serious.

Attack From Mars was released in 1995 - when I was living in a small town in northwest Colorado, far from any pinball machines. In 1998, I moved to Spokane, WA, a town with pretty limited pinball options. I didn't exactly keep up on real pinball news or machines, just digital stuff like Pro Pinball. So, yeah, had never heard of the game before TPA.

Centaur. I had seen it in our local arcades, but never played it. I didn't like the visuals and the sound was terrible for me. I'm still not a huge fan of it. But it was part of a mobile tournament and eventually I bought it (yes Farsight, the strategy worked...). After a few games I had the first mulitball and I started to love this table. In the end it was the first table on Android, where I had all wizard goals.

I had somehow never heard of Black Rose before TPA, so that sort of thing is quite possible.

I also hadn't heard of Class of 1812, El Dorado, Genie, Goin Nuts, or most EMs, though those are all a bit more understandable.

Actually, me too on all counts.

I'm going to say Tee'd Off. Post-Black Hole gottliebs are largely really terrible, but that table manages to have an astoundingly complex ruleset with fun shots, a pretty unconventional layout and a nice retro art look.

Tee'd Off! was a tremendous improvement over the version in PHoF.

I would say the majority of tables in The Pinball Arcade I have never played in real life. So I am always surprised by the new releases. I am still shocked by real life footage of Medieval Madness and how it looks.

I agree...Teed Off is pretty fun. I absolutely despise everything Gottlieb but I tried it since it is/was the freebie of the month. I was pleasantly surprised and might buy it.

Black Rose!

I LOVE this table. I played the heck out of it at an arcade back in high school that was on my walk home. Its a very under rated table in my opinion. I was very happy we got it on TPA. It just flows really well. I remember the most eye catching thing about the real table was that rail that runs all the way from top to bottom...you couldn't help but walk by and notice that :)

One really obvious one that I totally forgot until now... Ripley's! Took so long for it to click and to finally understand how great it is.

BK2K. I played a bit of BK before I got Season 3, and didn't really get on with it, so I wasn't all that pumped for BK2K with its very similar layout. It very quickly became one of my go-to games, and also helped me learn to like BK a bit more too. Love it.
