You will always be able to buy tables in TPA, don't worry guys.

Thanks for the clarification. The way I see it, I go to Pinballz Arcade at least twice a month and purchase "tokens" to play any table I feel like playing that trip. If I find I end up spending most of my tokens on a certain table, then I would consider purchasing it to take home for unlimited free play. This also frees up my tokens to play other tables on future trips to the arcade because I already have my favorite table at home.

Just like most people, I'd rather spend $20 per trip to the arcade than spend tens of thousands of dollars to have all of them in my home. Just scale this down to $0.99+ vs $100+ and you'll see my point.

This is all FarSight told me today: it sounds like a cash cow credit app. to me.

The Pinball Arcade: We're still designing the monetization model. All we can confirm right now is that it will be out soon, and the app will be free to download.

If it's free I'am sure it's credits daily or pay to play. I'll pass!

Read my post directly above yours...it really is a simple concept that doesn't affect the way we buy tables now in any way.

Why are you guys getting so worked up about an app that is clearly designed to generate income for Farsight?

Inspired by the Olive Garden analogy, I offer the FS car dealership analogy.

FS has a huge corner lot, stocked with reproductions of classic antique cars. Anyone is free to come in and take a test drive in any car. Heck, every month, they designate a different model as the freebie loaner car of the month. Drive the loaner as much as you want during the month, on the house.

They also sell copies of the cars for people to own. Drive it home, drive it to work, drive it at work, it's awesome. Esp considering that the price of this reproduction is a tiny fraction of the cost of an actual antique car. Everyone is happy, hurray! And somehow, FS is able to expand its offerings of models every month (mostly).

Then, FS hints that they may offer another means of transportation. It's kind of like a token lease system. You get the car for free with some free miles on it to use, and if you want more miles, you need to acquire some tokens. You get tokens either by waiting patiently, by skill, or by a small payment. Details to be determined.

You can still buy cars. They are just expanding to also offer this token lease method. Clear?

But, you say, I like buying cars. This other method sounds almost like riding the bus. I hate paying a token to ride the bus, you say.

Yes, but remember, you can continue to buy cars....

But you say, buying tokens to ride the bus sucks, I hate the bus, you say.

Yes, well, it's not for everyone...

Buses suck, you say. I rode the bus once. I didn't like it. They should only sell cars. I'll never pay to ride their bus, you say.

Ok, fine. Did I mention you can still buy the car you want?

But I want a bus, you say.

Sigh.

I can only speak for myself, but it's because I'm old school and these new apps/games with tiered pay schemes and all these free to play schemes that aren't actually free confuse and frustrate me. I just want to buy the game and play it.

You'll be able to.
(I think)
