Pinball Arcade Newsletter #16 - Full HTML Version

Table Pack #15: The Champion Pub? and Whirlwind? has been released for iOS, Android, Ouya, Google Play, Mac and Amazon. You're going to love these two amazing tables!

The Table of the Month is Dr. Dude and His Excellent Ray?. For this month only, you can play this fantastic table for Free!

The Champion Pub (1998) The Champion Pub features a punching bag that rotates a 180 degrees to reveal an irate boxer, ready to rumble. You control the fight with ramps leading you to body-blowing punches or strikes directly in your opponent's face. There's also a mini-playfield where the ball is launched at a speed bag and you use the flippers as your own plastic fists! There's even a jump rope where you jump the rope using a button-controlled switch. "I'm O'Brien, and theses are me knuckles!"

Whirlwind (1990) This Williams machine is another great Pat Lawlor table, the same designer of such classics as the Addam?s Family and Twilight Zone. This theme engulfs you in a storm chaser?s fantasy. Feel the Power of the Wind! Whirlwind blows wind in your face with a special fan once the storms begins, and includes spinning disks, cellar holes, drop targets and additional features to challenge you.

We've launched a new Kickstarter campaign for the Terminator 2: Judgment Day? pinball table. This great Williams? table is a Steve Ritchie masterpiece, and is unquestionably one of the greatest pinball tables ever created. T2 was the first table designed to have a DMD! It was the first table to feature a video mode and the first with a ball-firing cannon. The table has great features based on an awesome movie, and of course, it has Arnold!

The money raised through this campaign will fund the cost of the licenses needed for the table- if it succeeds, we will front the cost of development. Please help us bring the great T2 table to consoles and mobile devices for a whole new generation to enjoy!

Latest PlayStation News

Table Pack 13 (White Water? and Space Shuttle?) and Table Pack 14 (Centaur? and Pin?Bot?) will be coming to a PSN store near you in early July!

Our fans got an early look at the PlayStation4 version of the Pinball Arcade at the E3 show in Los Angeles last week. We were part of the Sony booth, and the game was amazingly well-received by pinball aficionados and novices alike. Our new PS4 lighting technology allows us to model individual lights for each of the 100+ lamps on the typical pinball table (complete with attenuation, blooms, and reflections). The result so far is a level of graphical realism never before seen in a video pinball game and it's going to get even better as we continue to improve the technology!

In more good news, Sony has announced a Cross Discount feature for the PS4. This will allow us to offer customers who have previously purchased Pinball Arcade content on other Sony platforms a discount when they buy that content on PS4.

PC Update

Since our Steam Greenlight several months ago, we?ve been hard at work creating a Steam version of the Pinball Arcade. We?re happy to announce that the first Beta build of the Steam platform was released to internal test last week! We will be conducting a closed public Beta of the Steam version in July- if you are one of our Kickstarter backers entitled to Beta access on the PC platform, watch your email for information on how to get access! We are targeting an August release for the Pinball Arcade on Steam with all of the current table packs available.

This month, we will be awarding custom balls for Twilight Zone and Star Trek to the top 500 finishers and the Eyeball to the top 200.

Next month, we'll be adding All-time tournament rankings and player tiers so that everyone has a chance to finish well at their level and the top players can compete for the best prizes.

PSN winners from the last tournament will be getting their prizes awarded over the next couple of weeks. The next PSN tournament will go live in a few weeks.

Mobile winners have been given these custom balls automatically. Mobile winners simply need to log out and then back into their FarSight accounts to access them.

Custom Balls can be used on any table. To change your pinball to be a Custom Ball, select Extras from within the Options of any Table Menu.

We are working with Sony to determine the best way to get the PlayStation winners their customs balls. We will update you once we know.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

Congratulations to the winners! We'd like to introduce these great players to you:

Dr. Paul Crowe (Crusty Booger)

My first table ever was Genie back when I was around 10 years old and right then and there I caught the bug. I used to ride my bike to the local arcade and play all Summer long. They didn't even have video games yet - this was when most of the table were electro-mechanical and only cost a dime to play. As the digital machines came in, they raised the cost to a quarter. And then one day Space Invaders was there and slowly but surely the pinball machines all left to make room for the video games. I pretty much stopped playing during high school and then rediscovered it during college - we had a few tables in the campus rec room (Fish Tales, T2, No Good Gofers) and another few of tables at a local hot dog joint (PinBot, Space Shuttle, Taxi). Eventually I got to the point were I could play all day for a quarter or two and would start seeking out places around Chicago that had tables. What really sold me then, and is still my absolutely favorite aspect of pinball, was multiball - I love any table with quick access to multiball - such a rush to juggle and control. One of the many things I love about Pinball Arcade is getting introduced to tables I never had the opportunity to play in the real world. Needless to say, when you launched Centaur (which I never played before), it was like discovering a hidden gem - multiball city! Outside of pinball, I have a wonderful family with three boys (who are all learning about pinball), I work as a Marketing Research executive and have a doctorate in Developmental Psychology. I also head up a successful punk rock band for children called The Boogers (hence the moniker Crusty Booger).

Valtteri Viinikainen (JPelter)

My name is Valtteri Viinikainen and I'm a 34 year old dude from Finland. My first pinball experiences were back as a kid in the 80s and early 90s, when there were still arcades and amusement parks with machines in Finland. Sadly, all that died down fairly fast and most of my pinball experiences for the last 20 years has been in computer form. I played the early Digital Illusions pinball games on my old Amiga, and fiddled around with some of the later computer pinball games as well to a lesser extent, but none of them really captured the feel of the real machines that well. Early last year, I noticed Farsight had a very promising looking game coming out actually trying to simulate old school pinball tables I saw as a kid. It turned out the simulation is really spot on, and I really love the game. I guess my tournament placement was mainly a function of spending a lot of time at the tables, and learning most of the rulesets really well before the tournament started from casual playing.

Special Kickstarter backer Tournament coming soon!

Twilight Zone and Star Trek backers who contributed at a level that earned them an invitation to our special tournaments... be on the lookout!

We will be soon sending out invitations for these exclusive tournaments!

Table Pack 16

Here's the hint for the next two tables and the next Table of the Month. Good Luck!

Not everyone gets to fly through space looking for the next table of the month, but this squirrel is a rare breed!
