Yes completely different game now with the dx11 update.

It's a mixed bag for me.

Yes, it looks so much better, and I'm glad so many PC users are getting the chance to utilize all of their latest technologies they wouldn't be able to with just DX9. And yes, having given DX11 a more in-depth playthrough on my weak-behind of an HP Envy, it seems as though FarSight is putting in a valiant effort to make the game playable on as many different calibers of CPU as possible.

Some tables run better than others still. Case in point: AFM runs surprisingly smoothly on my old rig in DX11. And it's great to see "strobe multiball" in effect. Nothing at all like the IRL version, but a very earnest effort on the part of FarSight-something not even the PS4 or XBone seems to be capable of.
Jack*Bot seems to run fine as well. CV and CP absolutely unplayable on my computer though.

Overall, I am pleased that FarSight is doing its' best to make the PC version "the one to beat". What I will need is a monitor capable of rotating (and 1920x1080 resolution) and at least a $500 GPU card. Once I get those, I may never need a game console again!

Again, good job to FarSight on the PC front!

Solved. It seems I had to for some reason delete the Appcache folder in the c:/program files(x86)/steam/appcache
It was messing up something in the steam settings. Now in restart my steam games are updating and I see the public beta in the pull down bar. Can't wait to get in on the action!! Ohhh baaabbbbyyy!!! ha ha

Personally I use Default settings in CCC and TPA I'm still messing with, the only thing I've changed so far is MSAA 4->1 which "fixed" the lag in Black Hole but not Cirqus Voltaire

I'm not nearly as much of a tweaker as I used to be, no more re-writing GPU BIOS's for me, honest! :p

Mark, please try these standard settings in ccc:

Change your TPA settings to maximum (Samples = 8 / Quality = 100 / Anis.: 16)

and tell me what you think. :)

hi Biff,
Thanks for the advice. But when I try your settings in AMD Catalyst Control Center and in TPA DX11 config, the subsequent results appear identical to what I had before. I am still getting the same display problems in the same places on Addams Family, for example. When I use your AMD CCC settings instead of mine, it does allow me to max out the TPA DX11 settings as you had (and I have no slowdown I think because I have lessened my AMD CCC settings). But I am still getting lots of pixellation on edges of objects when there is camera movement, and I am getting the shimmering.

What ATI/AMD card do you have?

Radeon HD 7950 and these are my settings. Standard in ccc (application controlled) and maximum in TPA.
1920x1080 or 1080x1920 portrait - No performance issues.
I never use Supersampling Anti Aliasing because it requires way more computing power.

Which monitor and resolution do you use?
Do you want to upload screenshots?
(I recommend postimage.org - It's free and no registration is required)

Oh gosh, I just saw how slow the ball is in Cirqus Voltaire with the DX11 beta. It's not playable for me regardless of what I try.

Based on the specs, I see that your 7950 is quite a bit more powerful than my 7770.

I am using and LG23EA63 monitor with 1920x1080.

I haven't found a way yet to do a screen shot to capture the problem.

Got the same 7770. The card is garbage. It's worth no more than ~55$ used. Can't play CIV either at 1280x1024. Well, you can play it, but with crappy low buffers that make the table look like a 15 year old game...

Other tables that seem complex and with lots of lights run smooth. Strange...

Ok, so I made a few adjustments and it plays awesome!

I was just assuming I'd get a PS4 to play TPA. Now I'm not so sure.

I see many people having issues here with CV, though I play with my GTX670 and I have no problems at all at TPA Maxed out on 1920x1080, it runs fine with solid 60fps :)

Yes, same here. Many other complex tables work for me in DX11 without any lag using the default TPA Configuration settings and even higher. But in Cirqus Voltaire, the ball is crawling.

Yep, same here with a GTX770 (driver version 350.12) with i7-3770K cpu. Always a solid 60 FPS at 1920x1080. I play in landscape mode with view 2 or 3, depending on the table. Maxed DX11 settings and the room light is set to 20% and lamps to 55%. Never drops below 60 FPS on any of the tables I've tried so far, including CV. Using FRAPS to verify my FPS. My video card's 3D settings use 1 maximum pre-rendered frames to help eliminate flipper lag, the power management is set at maximum performance (over quality), and I use the Adaptive vertical sync.

In the past I had some occasional split second freezing, but it had something to do with the game build, my graphics driver, or my security software. This would occur maybe 2 or 3 times in a 4-6 hour gaming session. I found that I could deactivate the real-time protection in my security software and this would eliminate any hiccups, but I've not had to do this for several months now. Whatever the culprit may have been, it seems to have resolved itself.

Heads up for anyone who have insufficient graphics cards....Best Buy has a sale going on, just got a budget priced Radeon R5 220 650M 1GB D3 card for $30. It's enough to allow me to play DX11 version (30-40 FPS) and they have other cards on hand.

The issue with CV does not respond to graphics settings.

Conclusion-It is a pre-rendering issue

The reason I'm trying to keep things as bare bones as possible is this setup is perfect for sniffing out hitches and provides a good reference for someone who I could possible help having issues in the future...

I know FarSight said they were picking up an AMD card for internal testing, I also know some of us setup odd driver versions in the past to get the most out of certain settings (this game and others), I wonder aloud if that can help us pin down the exact nature of the problem.

As I take a quick peek in the old device manager *gasp* my ATI card driver is version 8.97.10.6 from 6-20-2012 hmmmm wtf was I doing...I will update and re-test later today.
