PAF Top Ten Most Wanted Table Poll Series : #2 - Williams (Closed)

I'm sure we would all like to see FarSight do just about every single one of the Top 300 tables, but the simple fact is, FarSight can only do so many tables in a season and the main purpose of this poll series is to let FarSight know which tables the pinball community would like to see in the next two seasons...or to put it another way, sooner rather than later.

So how could Rollergames be brought up? Maybe in the future "licensed tables" poll? It's a Ritchie table at the end of the day and Jay said he is a big fan!
Can we even get a sense about how "complex" the license is? Maybe others could see this gameplay and keep it in mind for the future - http://pinball.org/videos/gameplay-videos/rollergames/

Btw, am i totally crazy for looking at the Rollergames table sitting next to the bk2k in the gameplay video from this thread?

As you can tell by my avatar, I love me some Rollergames. It has all sorts of licenses that would need to be cleared. Obviously, you have the name itself from the TV show. Then you need to clear the song and the athlete images. Finally there is the corporate sponsors. Pepsi, Thermos, affiliated brands. Now I'm not sure how expensive any of these would be, but it does seem like a lot of paperwork!

By far the toughest poll. Wish I could give up some votes on the other polls, and apply them here. Williams 80's and early 90's pinball is just the best there is.

My votes:

Black Knight 2000 - such an amazing follow-up to the original, and yes, the soundtrack makes for quite the earworm
Comet - only because I remember playing it much more than Cyclone, but Cyclone was my last eliminated table trying to narrow it down
Diner - fun and whimsical
Earthshaker - I live in California, how could I not vote for this?
F-14 Tomcat - always thought this was a big hole in Williams PHOF and TPA, was a marquee table back in the day
Flash - a mainstay in arcades of that era
Getaway - High Speed II - a worthy follow-up to the original
High Speed - favorite table of all time, first table in history with a "story", spectacular game play, biggest hole of all in Williams PHOF and TPA, if FS only made one more table ever this would be my vote
JackBot - never played it much, but it looks fascinating, would round out the PinBot family nicely
Red & Ted's Roadshow - my brother's favorite table, and how can you not vote for a table with two Rudy heads?

Really wanted to vote for Cyclone as well, but 10 is 10. Honestly, if FS did all of these 30 before anything on any other poll's list, I wouldn't complain. Williams 80's and 90's is one of the Golden Ages for Pinball.

I agree. I loved that time period too. This is not going to be easy at all. Can we have them all? LOL

There will be a few licensed themed tables in each of the Williams, Bally, Gottlieb and Stern polls that FarSight should be able to acquire without the need of a Kickstarter and Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of them.

if that is true... man, dracula is one of my all time favourite tables ever...

I don't get the appeal of card based poker tables. I mean why not just play with an actual deck?

Although come to think of it something like Liar's Poker/Indian Poker (that game where you stick a card to your forehead so everyone can see it but you) might be cool for a pinball game. Just take shots and make selections based on what you think you have.

While we're on luck games. They should add in Russian Roulette to a game. Where if you get the loaded chamber it shoots out a ball onto the table or gives you an extra ball. Sorry I get off on tangents sometimes.

Well, there is actor voices and pictures, Colombia pictures, Bram Stoker, etc, etc. Everything depends on the willingness of the license holders to cooperate.

Stoker's been dead for 101 years (he died in April of 1912 less than a week after the Titanic sank actually). There's gotta be a point in time where you can use a famous person's name or likeness long after their dead without permission. I don't think the people who make buttons/magnets of Einstein have to ask his estate do they?

I, too, was thinking of Scorpion and Pharaoh. I enjoyed Big Guns. I wish the poll also had Time Fantasy and Laserball. And Firepower II. Maybe all the ones people are mentioning in the thread that didn't make it will eventually make their way in.

No, the problem is that the machine is based on the Francis Ford Coppola movie. Dracula may be in the public domain, but it's the images of Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins that caused people to wonder about licensing issues. There's even an image of Keanu "Whoa" Reeves in the machine.

Their music has been on video game soundtracks as recently as this year (MLB The Show 13), so it's probably not as "tricky" as you think.
