Good simulation physics isn't about making shots easy or accurate. It's about getting all the details right to enable all the subtle flipper moves. This involves intricate aspects like nonlinear response of the flipper coil, the difference between the stroke and hold coils, the interaction of...
Yeah, CC isn't tough. On my first day playing a real one, I would have made High Noon if I'd known how the Showdowns requirement worked. And I did reach it the next time I played CC.
People think CC is tough in TPA because you actually have to catch and aim. Some games let you hit everything...
This is also informative to tell us which scores you're ignoring as fake. I didn't realize all three above me on Theatre were considered bogus. And wasn't sure about the #1 on Elvira.
Suggestion: would it be better to alphabetize the table list rather than Farsight's order? They finally...
The intent isn't just disregarding the fake player, we're also worried about avoiding fake scores affecting the real rankings for the top players. If there's four fake scores on Black Hole pushing my legit one down to #5, that affects my ranking relative to the other "Martians" ( :) ) since #5...
This appeared very suspiciously soon after I played that 191M game. Not too likely that nobody ever scored 150M on Black Hole before and then two players suddenly did it a day apart. Black Hole does have an exploit where any unlimited score is possible (the ball can get stuck on top of the...
Looks like it will accept a width of "100%", to just fill up however wide the post already happens to be on your screen. I changed it, does it look better now?
Awesome, invitro! Thanks a billion (or 100 billion :) )
This answers what I wanted to see: that only my scores at position #4 and higher are included. In other words, my total can only be improved by getting up to #3 or better on some table. (Yeah, I am picking tables to play based on this...
It's the flipper and nudge physics in TPA that are still way too easy compared to real life. It's enormously easier to control and trap a ball that can never spin. And to slap-save with flippers that can be shoved two full inches sideways at the tap of a button. I agree that the easy table...
It's better in the sense that it's tuned to make shots and saves very easy so that everybody can feel like pinball gods. It's not better in the sense of replicating real physics. Pro Pinball's physics from 18 years ago are more accurate than TPA's currently.
This works only as long as you are still on Ball 1. When TPA starts a new game, it will "press start" on the ROM. The ROM interprets this either as adding another player (if you are still on ball 1) or restarting a new game (if you are on ball 2+).
Also, since TPA considers this a new game...
Google found a thread here: http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=5322
It's not a pinball game. It's just a controller that operates as a PC keyboard. The Absolute Pinball that it comes with is an ordinary PC pinball sim from 21st Century (Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions).
Incorrigible restarter here.
This. There is no such thing as casual score play for me in TPA. I only play to aim at top leaderboard spots, and well there's just no sense doing that with a ball or two already wasted.
Total opposite for me. I play considerably worse on ball 3 when there's...
If I were a Martian, I would be easily defeated with just six or eight pinball hits. But I am far more powerful than that. Maybe a dirty pool though...
Thanks again Invitro! If you're still taking suggestions, I'd love to see the "Best Scores" column drill deeper - ideally to be able to see...
Known bug that Farsight hasn't ever fixed. The workaround is to always intentionally tilt during the bonus count. This reliably avoids the bug. DO NOT speed up the bonus count by hitting the flippers, since you need the time to make sure the game tilts.
Wait, I recognize that table! It's Crash and Burn from Epic Pinball. Minus the upper flippers. Where did that come from and who turned it into Dracula?
Heh, somehow missed checking this thread again till now.
I've never played on the iPad (or anything but the PC) so I can only guess from hearsay how any mobile devices behave for nudging. I can say how playing on a PC keyboard works, which is always maximum strength nudges in the four cardinal...
