It's on the Stern Pinball Facebook page. Probably elsewhere too. But yep, it's official :D
Some things:
1. It's a new App. This means they can do SAM/SPIKE emulation on those [mobile] platforms that can support it, and drop support for platforms that don't, without annoying the core TPA...
"Prepare ship for ludicrous speed! Fasten all seatbelts, seal all entrances and exits, close all shops in the mall, cancel the three ring circus, secure all animals in the zoo!"
I'm ashamed to admit, I never, ever, once, managed to Conquer Mars on a real AFM - and that's not for lack of trying. I pumped a small fortune into that table, and Mars is still as red and shiny as the day it coalesced into a spheroid shape and cooled down sufficiently to maintain a stable surface.
That's the way it's designed to work - I think it's okay in that it's far less of a jolt than suddenly completing the final component and having the machine go dead and flash up all that stuff on the DMD at you. That would seriously freak people out the first time it happened. The third lock...
$35MM per F-14, eh? That's a LOT of quarters!! Mind you in a good game I probably knock off Yagov 10+ times so that's $110MM of damage right there. This assumes that one game = one F-14, not one ball = one F-14, because then you're losing F-14s faster than you are killing MiGs. Not sure the...
There's another tournament coming, let's run down the tables (very Gottlieb/Premier heavy, including two or three of the most reviled tables in the TPA!)
F-14 Tomcat™ The new table, as usual. I don't think there's much to say - multiball, multiball, multiball. Just keep pounding that right...
Not sure about all of them, but Gen. Yagov must be getting fed up with being shot down again and again and again... you'd think he'd learn, right?
Well I suppose the cost in MiGs is running pretty high by now, too.
I am going to be extremely disappointed if there isn't one in York in a couple of weeks now. Last year it was next to a TAF so wasn't getting much attention. I got to play 10 or so games, which for a show is pretty good going.
PC is my main platform, Season Pro passes are a day-one purchase.
Android is my #2 platform, I'm filling in seasons when they're on sale and the odd individual table here and there.
Thanks to the TAF kickstarter, I also have TAF and TAF Gold on iOS (we are a family split along mobile and...
It plays great, and it's as deadly as the real thing (I have recorded a score of 73,000 as proof of this).
Doesn't mean it can't be "beaten" (see Oberdieck, Tarek) - but in real life, that's true also. Extra balls are plentiful, so scoring will be wild.
Pinball After Dark... please.
There's nothing in TFTC that's any worse that anything in Starship Troopers. I've said it before, I'll say it again: Pinball After Dark was a fun idea someone had at a meeting at Farsight that they really shouldn't have ever made public in any form, let alone in a...
There's quite a lot to digest here.
I think it's also fair to say I'm not an overly-analytical player. TPA is a pick-up-and-play kind of game, and I don't really want to think too much about what I'm doing. Just dive right in and have some fun!
My first observation - no love for pre-DMD...
