They were separate companies but merged sometime in the 80s. The manufacturer of those tables is actually Midway (the name of the merged company), but they continued to use the Williams and Bally brands for alternating tables. I don't think there was any real rhyme or reason as to why...
Okay, this was also posted in the Android Beta for HS2. Kind of weird that something that's been around a while has only just been spotted, but at about the same time on two different platforms.
In the tournament? This table is going to be 3 balls of left-ramp grind-fest. Short plunge, left ramp until 3M is lit, collect 3M. No point going for the right ramp since EBs aren't any advantage.
The first two times you hit the lock, the ball will lock so you'll get to safely short-plunge...
A few quick facts:
- Can't stack EBs. If you collect the score EB you can't collect the Cauldron EB that ball.
- Left ramp maxes at 300K to light the 1M shot.
- All those left ramps + the 3M shot comes out to about 8M per cycle.
- Short-plunge every time for an easy catch on the right flipper...
Just a quick final observation, the skill shot cannot be doubled, because you're plunging either at the start of a new ball, or at the start of multiball. Both of these circumstances cancel 2x scoring.
Oh sure if it's stacked with N America/Africa/Antarctica it's fine. The theory is that missing the spinner shots is risky. So don't go for it.
Personally I always try and get it, stacked or not.
Not sure if this is just AFM or it affects other tables (I'm willing to bet it does), but I got the game completely locked up with no way out but to kill the process.
Anyway what I did was get Martian Champion and entered initials, and then managed to start a new game while the 'Enter Initials'...
In order, I'd be least disappointed by (of hyper-realistic tables, so ignoring any crazy licenses and wishful thinking):
1. F-14
2. Hurricane
3. The Shadow
4. Paragon
5. Yeah whatever.
Atlantis isn't difficult either, as long as you don't try to collect a letter from every mode.
Collect the easy/less risky ones (Australia, multiballs, some say Asia but others say not Asia) and you'll get there without really thinking about it.
It's possible to cheat using pausing, in theory, but it still requires practice and patience. vikingerik outlined the method in another thread.
HS2 will be out next weekend ....
You also have to pray that the game recognizes that you've collected the Special. It took me 2 or 3 successful attempts before it registered. I really wish FS could figure a way to hook into the ROM emulations to register goals, rather than relying on display/audio cues.
Android beta is run via Google+ Communities, but since you're an iOS player I assume that's not of interest to you.
No idea how to get on the iOS beta, but I assume there are folks around here who are in on it.
PC beta was a T2 Kickstarter tier award, so that's closed for now, and wasn't offered...
