Actually he's been pretty lax on double dips. Think about it, both the Abyss and True Lies have only the one DVD release. And neither of those are anamorphic 480p discs. Terminator on the other hand...
I saw Color of Night in the theater just because I had a thing for Jane March. I don't think I could sit through any of those erotic thrillers again from back in the day. Even Basic Instinct. Boy, there's a genre that went belly up. I just watched Hard To Kill recently and it is quite comical...
I'm an unapologetic fan of all 3 Matrix movies. Yes, ALL 3! I like hero journey movies, which for me started with the OG Star Wars trilogy. I like the philosophy and themes, I absolutely love the soundtrack, and I really dig the look of them. The Chateau fight and the whole 11 minute freeway...
Yep, I think that's a fair assessment. That's why you follow it up with The Raid 2, which has a massive story going on. Plus crazy action and violence. And yes, I do go for that dirt of thing?
Well after being accused of having rotten taste in movies because of my list of 35, I thought I'd share 5 that there is no defense for. These are spectacularly awful. Which is what makes them so fun to watch! Now and then a few of my friends will get together and torture each other with Bad...
The Lost Highway soundtrack is amazing. So I'm driving late at night to Laughlin with my wife. Laughlin is Vegas on the Colorado river, fyi. Anyways, it's late at night and there are no other cars on the road. I'm talking not a single headlight or taillight to be seen. So I'm enjoying the music...
Considering you don't care much for Slater, you probably won't enjoy Heathers. Although essentially he's playing an imitation of Jack Nicholson in it. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you'd hate The Descent, Dokken.
Slater is an acquired taste, but then so is Patricia Arquette. For me it's all about the writing in that movie.
The Departed is bleak, and you certainly don't come away from it with a happy fuzzy feeling. Can't the same be said about Heat?
I like El Mariachi for it's can do spirit of film...
Reading all of Dokken's comments through these threads, I'm sensing a pattern. Me thinks you don't care for movies that are a bit of a head trip. That would explain 12 Monkeys and some of the others you haven't liked. Me? I like a good puzzler of a film.
And don't rip on Gattaca. Just don't.
Well, these ARE foreign titles! That being said, not knowing about Hard Boiled is a huge error if you are remotely a fan of action movies. This was Hong Kong's answer to how they viewed Hollywood's love of macho cops from the 80's. Because of it, Hollywood brought John Woo stateside to make Hard...
Agree. I was just watching 'North Shore' the other night, and paying a lot of attention to the surf fashion of the late 80's. It's not as stereotypical as if something made today doing a flashback would lead you to believe. Then again, I was also just watching 'Back To The Future', and my god...
Ya know why I don't like Icees? They're too full of air. A Slurpee has a nice ice texture to it, while an Icee seems to be frothy almost, like a slightly hard shaving cream.
As for the question of 'flavorless white ice'...
First off, you're drinking the damn thing too slow! If the bottom of...
Hey, I joked about me putting on a movie that had 2 sequels! To answer the question though, do you really hear people bringing that movie up today in conversation? And if they do, are they gushing about it?
Sounds like a good season to me! That would pretty much take care of all my "must have's" except for Banzai Run, which is really more of a would like to have if I'm being completely honest with myself. Only one problem with that list though...no Stern. They won't go an entire season without one...
You get it! If someone was going to pick one Nolen film, they're gonna say The Dark Knight or even Inception. Memento though is such a great min bender, but overlooked for being an indie flick. I however like best a Nolen film EVERYONE forgets about, The Prestige. Brilliant movie that...
You asked for it (or at least 1 person did!), so as promised in our Pod #10, here it is.
THE SLURPEE COMMANDMENTS
OK, here's the deal. I am a Slurpee Master. Follow me into a 7-Eleven, and I'll dispense a Slurpee like a boss.
Time and time again, I go into the store and have to watch some...
I appreciate everyone that took the time to read my nonsense and participate in the discussion. For those seeing this only for the first time, where ya been? As stated in my first post, this is a list of movies that I'd recommend to somebody not looking for the obvious choices. These are not "I...
