Well, on one hand... Youngstown?! But on the other hand, it is half the distance of the two places in or near Pittsburgh. So about an hour to get to this place for me. So it could be further like Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, or Athens.
I'm lucky as there are two good pinball places (12+...
VPX installation is a breeze these days. Years ago, it was an arduous task that required a Comp-Sci degree. Today, it is a standalone installation, where you primarily need to make certain the program isn't installed in the generic /Programs subdirectory. It takes five minutes. A little...
AtGames (and others) isn't just a danger because of the stock tables (we'll pretend Gottliebs aren't included... even with haptics), it is also a danger because it is a gateway to VPX, which opens the door to making the machine a museum of tables itself.
No, it isn't cheap compared to PC...
Trouble becomes, people move on.
Pinball FX's greatest threat is AtGames and like-minded affordable digital pinball machines that can make Pinball FX expendable.
Got the VPX running on my AtGames machine and one thing became apparent, Central Park sucks. There are a huge number of era tables back then that were less on automatic than Central Park. Is there a reason why they went with Central Park?
TPA was awesome for its time. Provided a mountain of tables, much fun was had. Zen then improved the physics and the look. All of this has built upon previous iterations.
If TPA goes? It has been gone a long while. Part of the animosity against Farsight was the Stern deal that didn't amount to...
Pinball Arcade released the best tables. Zen would be a bit insane to ignore them. The massive pause by Zen... I personally switched to Visual Pinball and haven't looked back. It isn't their fault, I want to play all types of tables, many that would never be released because they are "too old"...
I don't doubt that. Having the exciters upgraded on the AtGames table was huge for those Zaccaria tables! It really does take it to a whole different level.
Regardless, in all the excitement of playing high quality tables that I hadn't played virtually before, I managed to completely forgot...
One thing occurred to me, with the AtGames Legend pinball table. I had completely forgotten that the exciters don't work on Visual Pinball. Been having so much fun being able to play these tables, that it was non-factor. Sure, it'd be nice, but right now, I'm so uberly content.
Installed and...
Up to about 80 tables now. Found a couple pretty cool originals, Mickey Mouse and Scooby Doo. I wish downloading was less clicky, but I get why it is set up that way.
The Tee'd Off table looks very good. Not quite 100% realistic, but magnitudes better than the TPA render! ST TNG also looks...
Thanks, that did the trick. Some tables seem to be much quieter than others.
Discovered Batter's Up, a baseball version of Pro Football. Awesome!
So, pretty much have all I want.
Monopoly, Scared Stiff, Family Guy, Pro Football, Rocky and Bullwinkle, The Incredible Hulk, Attack From Mars...
Dragged home an old, but beefy computer from work (solid motherboard, lots of watts, Xeon processor) to get this going on my AtGames Pinball machine. Put in a better video card (1660 Super OC, was a Firepro7900). Hooked up an old LCD monitor for the backglass, I don't have the VIBS card (for the...
A DS9 series table could be seriously cool, where you try to play out the entire series! In general, I can't stand Zen originals, but done right a DS9 table could be legendary... as long as it was a pinball table first, not one of their fantasy like tables.
I'm think two level play surface...
Funhouse and Jackbot. How many of the remaining FX3 tables are top draws? The packs that were purchased (played?) the most will be priority to go on FX.
I'd prefer Cactus Canyon and Centaur, but only one new one.
When you get more time to play around, please elaborate on the "looked nice" part. I think FX3 looks "nice". I personally need a serious wow improvement to consider this.
Pricing isn't my problem, the method of not being able to purchase tables is. The cost is a bit higher now, fine, but I don't like paying for tickets that can only be used by buying more tickets.
