I knew this would happen eventually. Tarek's always been better than me. I sometimes have more patience on the infinityable tables, but he's way ahead on the limited tables like Gorgar, Genie, Taxi, Big Shot.

I haven't played at all in a couple months, either. Might buy season 4 sometime after TAF if it also has some out of Getaway, Road Show, Safecracker, Jackbot.

Right. I've skipped it mostly to keep myself from burning another two hundred hours on TPA instead of doing more productive things. I've goofed around on the demos a bit. I might still buy in sometime.

However, there aren't any real must-have tables for me in season 3. High Roller Casino is the one I was excited about, but the broken physics of the right orbit shot means I'd never enjoy it. Junkyard and Whodunit are interesting, but drive me crazy with the plastics high up above the inlanes that obscure the ball and I can't hit shots with any timing. (True to the real tables, but I wish Farsight had some kind of solution.) There's also Whodunit's failure to randomize the cases. Overall I'm tired of putting up with Farsight's botched implementation details that screw up the experience.

Congrats on the new #1.

I haven't played for a few months. Kind of waiting for DX11 on PC, but I might crack soon and get back into it. As far as invitro's leaderboard, I'm confident in the legitimacy of the top spots. I mean no one can ever know anything for sure, but the top three are consistently good players and the scores from my experience are attainable. I have no real doubt in my mind that the aliens are all legit. It just takes a lot of time and dedication to punch out really high scores.

Also, as always thanks invitro for maintaining it. The overall competition brings a little extra spice into the game which is nice.

What a month for Tarek, when i talk about Martians i'm not kidding, and when JP will be back at the big game i'm pretty sure we'll see we got 4 of these aliens. This monster month made almost disappear the huge month of my good friend Benj in the "moon group", who won 4 places to the 6th spot with the best progress of the month in points (+244), all of this in 10 days, without hollyday. It's turning me crazy but i dont think i'll see him again in this leaderboard, i still cant play more than a couple of hours by month, i miss this game :/

Sorry, but there is definitive something odd with the top-leaders of this board.
This smells fishy. Just watch their highscores. Simply impossible. They make Pinball Wizard Tommy look like a bloody rookie.

These guys ARE the pinball wizards. They are the top guns just as Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Muhammad Ali, etc etc are respectively. Some people are gifted with exceptional skill, talent and dedication.

Back to playing the table of the week thing, after Genie, it's now Firepower. There is no end to the pain......

Well I played Junkyard while it's the free table. And I'm not impressed. The physics are wrong. You can't have fun bashing on the wrecking ball like you're supposed to, because TPA's flippers are so anemically weak up the middle. You can't hit the wrecking ball on any kind of rolling shot, only from a full catch, which is exactly the opposite of how a real Junkyard is supposed to play. (MM has the same problem on shooting for the castle.) Also the physics don't allow shooting the Dog ramp on the fly from the left popper, it's impossible, you have to do it from a catch. Junkyard is supposed to be decently flowy (as most Oursler games) but TPA's physics don't work right for it.

Junkyard is also really boring on the high end. I have as much patience for grinding as anyone, but man those same four identical modes over and over with nothing else to do and no interesting interactivity from stacking or anything. (See Monster Bash for a set of simple modes done right with lots of emergent behavior.) That's Williams' fault not Farsight's, but it doesn't make me want to buy the table.

Junkyard has to be the easiest table in TPA for a long time. Centre drains are incredibly rare, and the outlanes are protected by ball savers. I've played for hours, until I got tired and gave up.

Well I played Junkyard while it's the free table. And I'm not impressed.

Thanks for the review. JY is probably my least-favorite S3 table. That's partly the problems with the wrecking ball and partly the rules. I kind of enjoyed it in real life, and had a memorable game on it at a PAPA many years ago.

I'm still in shock about the impossible TPA shots you've mentioned. I had no suspicion of that until your posts. Hard to believe Farsight doesn't test for that, especially since they say they explicitly said somewhere that they test that every shot can be made from every position, or something like that.
