(An attempt at) The top 40 TPA players from leaderboard scores

Thanks for your work, nice to see the list updated, I really like the second version. I'm mostly content when I get my 1000 HOF points on my iPad TPA, so I guess being at place 73 in this list goes nicely with being above average on a lot of tables. This list has the potential to give me a new goal..... I'm not entirely sure this is a good thing as real life demands kind of get in the way of playing really lengthy games

You could always just ignore those real life things, as some of us do!

Some Hack / Glitch Thoughts:

PS: 211K on Central Park and 87M on Big Shot are probably bogus scores, without pointing fingers at Lupo because it's known that TPA can sometimes mess up and put scores from one table on the leaderboard of another. It's kinda strange that this may have happened to Lupo 2 times though.

Lupo23 also has:
#2 BH 194M (just over vikingerik's 191M),
#3 Gorgar 34M,
#6 BK 235M,
#2 Victory 391M (just over vikingerik's 389M), and
#15 GoinNuts 9.5M,

in addition to the
#1 BigShot 87M and
#1 CentPark 211k.

I had him on my to-watch list, and I've banned him now.

I went through some scores, and banned several people, 16 of them. There seem to be more hacked/glitched scores on the leaderboards now than ever before. Most of the bans I made today were because someone had like a #4 score, and no other top 500 scores at all. I don't know if that's necessarily a hack, it could be a glitch, but I don't think it's skill.

I am considering requiring everyone to have at least four (or so?) top 500 scores before they can be ranked, or have their scores count at all. That would remove a lot of my hack/glitch uncertainty.

Some tables seem to get hacky/glitchy scores more often. For instance, I think the top 6 (!) scores, and 8 of the top 10, on Gorgar right now are hacks or glitches. Central Park, BH, and Big Shot seem to have a lot of oddities.

We know RBioN's leaderboard is chock-full of glitchy scores that are very close to 10B or 20B. I think the only really positive glitch I've noticed while I've been playing is on SS. But I may be misremembering that. I have forgotten if any other tables have reported major positive glitches, and I don't read many of the forums other than General these days. But I think I need to try to create some order out of what I'm observing. I now think a lot of the people I banned tonight were probably just glitches that I should remove as scores.

Here's one I haven't seen reported here yet: stevieboy has 73,998,483,500 on Diner.

And this: B.C. has #1 33M on HH, #489 on WWind, and no other scores.

And this: ApA has #1 Firep 627M, and some lower scores.

And this: dep has #6 TZ, #96 WD, and that's it.

And this: Glunt has #2 on BoP, #2 on Pin*Bot, and that's it. I'm thinking about waiting until Jack*Bot comes out next year to make a decision on this guy.

Well... you have to play a table to get any points on that table .

You are #783 now. That's because even though you have many (about 20) scores in the top 500, your best score is your #41 on TZ... in my scoring system, you need to get higher on the leaderboard before you start racking up ranking points. Good luck and keep playing!

I notice in the tournaments, that I end up high in the rankings even though I don't usually get the very best scores. Consistency really pays off in the tournaments.
Well, it's what I expected. I knew I didn't have a table where i'm in the top 20 (anymore). Ever since those PC players came into the mix, I have been dropping in ranks

Recently started playing a bit more again and improved on a couple of scores, so I'm getting there slowly

It's probably a difficult thing to really prove leaderboard hacking and/or glitching aside from the very obvious. It's sad that some people derive pleasure by claiming scores they didn't achieve. I would think that scores that are very obvious out of reach for even the most accomplished players are glitches or hacks that only prove that that leaderboard can be hacked. I know TPA has cleaned up some of those a while back. As for all those players with one or maybe two freaky HS but within the realm of possibility: who knows, they could be very monomanic players. I like playing on all the tables, but I know a lot of players haven't bought all the tables or have very clear and sometimes narrow preferences. Your idea to make 4 top 500 HS a prerequisite for getting on "the list" sounds good, because if you can't do that, you probably won't show up on the top part of the list anyway.

This appeared very suspiciously soon after I played that 191M game. Not too likely that nobody ever scored 150M on Black Hole before and then two players suddenly did it a day apart. Black Hole does have an exploit where any unlimited score is possible (the ball can get stuck on top of the left slingshot scoring continuously), but it's very slow at only 100 points per second which works out to over 500 hours to score 190M.

Farsight hasn't cleaned up any of the hack/glitch scores in a while, that's why there's so many on the boards now. They haven't for several months.

Gorgar and Big Shot make me think a glitch is leaking scores onto them from another table as happened in TPA's earlier days, maybe some rogue outdated platform still has that code. Maybe Central Park too, although the only other table that scores in that 5-digit range is Big Shot itself.

Haunted House 33M is believable thanks to a railroadable physics exploit (and would only take 5-6 hours.) But if that player at 33M has no other scores, it's probably fake, yeah.

Your idea to make 4 top 500 HS a prerequisite for getting on "the list" sounds good, because if you can't do that, you probably won't show up on the top part of the list anyway.

The intent isn't just disregarding the fake player, we're also worried about avoiding fake scores affecting the real rankings for the top players. If there's four fake scores on Black Hole pushing my legit one down to #5, that affects my ranking relative to the other "Martians" ( ) since #5 is worth considerably less than #1.

Awwwww I didn't even make the top 100, even though I have #28 in the HOF points table ��

HOF points are available only on mobile devices. It has been asked FS several times to implement it on PC and consoles, but it never happened (maybe with the incoming new UI? I hope so).

And I never understood why this is not on all versions (it wouldn't require a lot of work to implement, isn't it?)

I've always wondered why HOF points wasn't on PC. I always assumed that was the only platform that didn't have them. Didn't realize it extended to console versions too.

As to my task at hand - I think this is a list of the tables I need to most concentrate on! I can pick one tonight. I think I may be playing an as-yet-unreleased table over the weekend... ;-)

If u want to improve in the leaderboard, you should focus on ur already decent scores to turn them in very good one, goin from a #1000 to a #100 will give u only 1 point, when improving a top 50 in top 20 will give u 30 points

Anyway in your list you should forget SS (top 20 is around 8-9-10 hours of play) and Arabian Night (so glitchy, i think Invitro doesnt even take this table in his leaderboard). Flight 2000 is a great table, and if u've been good on CO1812 u should perform well on it. Firepower is very challenging but full of bugs. Between the others JY and CBW are the 2 easyer for me.

It would be great if there were a list of tables with the scores needed to get to certain positions, without having to scroll through a ton of stuff. I like to know what I'm aiming at, to give me a general picture of how I'm going to go about it.

Top 100 is nice, but Top 50 is what I'm generally aiming for. That's a good enough bump to start with. Some tables I've gone beyond that (C1812 is my first Top 10). F2K I never got on with great on my most recent, Wizard Goal-oriented, go. Never had a pure score run on it or FP so I'll see how it goes I guess. Okay so FP has a score in the Wizard Goals, but those tend to be sweaty, nervous affairs (prime example being that 250K goal in BS). Freed from the pressure of making a certain score, things can go better.

This is a great idea. Here is a try at it. My ideas of hacked or glitches scores have been filtered out. The inner table uses the Arial font because the default font won't get small enough on my computer.

Edit: oops, it is too wide... it fit in the preview space. Will take another think on it later.

It's going to be tough getting Top 100 on a couple of tables, I can tell. TOTAN and Ripley's in particular, even with all the bogus/glitched scores removed.

Any way the raw data could be dumped into say a Google Docs spreadsheet or .csv that can be shared? That way those of us who care to can grab it and slice and dice as we please.

I have actually played the TPA version quite a bit... it's one of my all-time favorite real tables (though I'm starting to notice its flaws), though I've played it less than I usually would because I know the top 100 scores are completely out-of-reach.

I suppose I should go look at the TotAN forum some day. I'm too lazy right now.

My bogus'ing of the ToM scores is new as of a couple nights ago.

I suppose I need to post a list of players and scores I am ignoring. I have perhaps been overly swayed by the arguments to not publicize these things. But mostly I have been a little lazy... and waiting until I could have a more orderly/algorithmic policy. I'll put up something soon. I want to make a table that lists how many other top-500 scores are had by the player of each top-100, or maybe top-10, score.

I must be misunderstanding something on TotAN. It seems on a very casual reflection that a good player should be able to get the Harem/final-battle exploit through skill.

Here's what seems to have happened: The exploit was patched out of a later version of the TOTAN ROM. TPA didn't have that ROM version at first but later updated with it. It doesn't seem to be possible now. I've done what should be the correct steps three or four times but it hasn't worked. Which means anyone playing TOTAN now is screwed on playing for the leaderboard.

But the Harem/Battle stack isn't enough to explain the leaderboard scores IMO. I kinda doubt that several hundreds of players ever pulled it off when we've seen hardly any claims here. And it's not the 3x Lightning Lamp stack either.

I would guess that the TOTAN leaderboard is all scores that have leaked from other tables, either by glitch or intentional hack. TOTAN is table ID number 0 or 1. It's quite believable that hack attempts or glitches could land a score on the TOTAN leaderboard by way of a missing or invalid table ID value.

How far back do you have TOTAN data? Can you see if any 1 billion plus scores are still coming in for the table recently?

Personally I tested out the TotAN glitch a fair bit back and confirmed it worked, but didn't bother racking up points. I don't know if it still works, but regardless I love the table because of how incredibly unforgiving it is and I really love just playing it straight, comparing against the friends leaderboard instead of the billion club on main leaderboards. I just feel using the mode weirdness makes a great table really one dimensional and boring.
