Late night ramblings from a tired pinhead:

Fungi and Sean: I agree with both of you and I could easily add a few more reasons to never ever buying another zen table in my life, but let's just leave it there and stop talking about the most boring and most polished pinball game to ever see the light of day ;)

About the Price: Let's just say it will be 5 bucks and be done with it. If anyone dislikes it you can just keep playing the ps 3 version (at the same price). If Farsight came out with TPA 2 on PS3 and would charge the same for the same old tables I could understand it, but all this talk about discount because you have an older system makes absolutely no sense at all to me. Do you get a discount from sony on the new PS 4 because you have PS3?? (actually that would make more sense to me than this debate) To Farsight (and us) this is a new platform. Everything must be done from scratch. It has nothing to do with the ps 3 whatsoever. God night

Fraction of the price? Last I checked, their 4 packs are $10, which is the exact same price you'd pay for 4 tables on TPA, except for STTNG and TZ, but c'mon...those are legendary.

...and I definitely agree with what Sean said.

Right on, Jeff

I would buy Zen tables if I found any of the demos I've played to be any fun. Their mini golf is a lot of fun though.

I admit Zen/FX2 is much more polished, but with the leaden physics, repetitive gameplay, and an overabundance of comic book characters, it's a whole lotta lipstick for not a lotta pig, at least for me.

People do need to remember though that pinball fanatics are NOT Zen's target audience. They made their game engine easier on purpose so casual players could have enjoyable games without needing to practice a lot. Its kind of like a slow-pitch softball league. Its great for average folks that want to just go out and have fun once in a while, without striking out over and over again like they would against 90 mph fastballs. Of course if you put a bunch of pro baseball players out there that could hit a home run every time up they would find slow-pitch softball boring pretty quickly.

Note: Zen tables can be fun if treated like an adventure game. A few play-throughs of the ruleset until the wizard mode is finished are usually enjoyable. After that it will get boring because the games will get to be very long and repetitive. Five minute multiplayer races also aren't too bad.

Its ironic that at times I've defended Pinball Arcade on the Zen Studios forums from the exact opposite arguments. People there would sometimes say that TPA is no good because the ball drains too quickly, its too bouncy, the UI isn't as polished, and it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles that Zen's games do. Over there people have to explain to the casual gamers that TPA is meant to be a realistic pinball simulation and isn't necessarily targeted towards casual gamers.

Its funny how big a difference perspective can make.

Funny thing is, before TPA, I used to play a lot of Zen. I loved the Fantastic Four table, but I was only mediocre. I could get a coupla modes started and finish a few. I stopped playing immediately after TPA was released. Cut to a year later and I fire up FF again. Holy crap I end up finishing the Wizard mode after the first game. Yes, TPA has made me a better player, and maybe, just maybe, a better man.

Wow has this thread gone off the rails. From getting games free to Zen bashing. Isn't this about Star Trek on the PS4?

Ehhh, it's just a few posts, and nothing that hasn't been said in several other TPA threads already.

But yeah, let's get this back on topic.

Last Zen purchase Shaman £0.66 Android.
Last TPA purchase Pack 14 Pro £5.28 Android (divide by 2 = £2.64 per table)
(100/(528/2)*66)=0.25 = A quarter of the price.

As for TZ being legendary - yeah I'd agree - but Farsight's version of it - yawn, and still waiting for my Kickstarter rewards for both TZ & STTNG.

In regards products - I'm no wizard, I'm lucky I can have fun with both Zen and TPA. One simulating real tables, the other being a pinball based video game. I feel sorry for those who can't enjoy it.
In regards company's - Zen Studios is much higher in my opinion to Farsight (and that's the business - not the employee's who post here who, as it's well known work hard with what they have).
Quality of product is driven from the top level of a company - downwards. Management are directly responsible, and the driving force behind what is acceptable to them as the quality of their product.

Anyway - sorry for the off topic - but wanted to answer your question. All back to how wonderful and working everything will be in PS4.
Just give me Nudge up (& rom emu'd BK) - and I'll stop complaining.

Lipstick on pigs...

Pucker up Sean. :D

This is a PS4 thread, which naturally means we're talking about CONSOLE versions, not mobile....therefore what I said about prices was spot on....so I'm going to edit out your huge, off-topic images regarding Android prices.

If you want to discuss Zen further, take it to the Zen section as Pinballwiz45b suggested.

As far as the "pucker up Sean" comment...what the...?

I only own one console, and that's dead as far as TPA is concerned, which is why I pinball on my tablet now. Were they "huge off topic images"? It was only the receipts backing up you questioning my pricing claim.

Nothing further to say on the Zen subject, but will head to that forum if I feel the need. Thanks for the reminder.

Sean quoted my previous post, mentioning lipstick and pigs in his reply. I found a cute picture is all that I thought he might like.

Like I said, this is a PS4 discussion. It's great that you play on your tablet, but yes, your images were both off-topic and very huge, even on a 1920x1080 monitor. The size wouldn't have mattered so much if they were actually relevant.

Sorry, but I have to say this and be done with it. Moderators feel free to delete this if it only brings fuel to the fire.

The thing is that when you go into a topic about a brand new version of a game we are all here to talk about and start saying how another game is much better even before it is released you are asking for a good spanking ;-)

We, the not worthy of true Zen did not start this and most of us would never go into a Zen forum and start to talk about how much better tpa is. This is also why I mostly stay away from Zen Threads. I have no problem with others having a blast playing it. It just do not concern me but when you knock on my door and tell me I have crappy taste I believe some answer is in order ;-) if a polished game is the most important thing for you I can certainly understand tpa is not on top of your list and tpa is never going to be as polished as we would have liked, but it gets better all the time and most of us find the price of packs very reasonable (even a bargain for the amount of fun we have with it)

Not trying to be a rude jerk here. Just trying to explain why the negative zen posts happen. Now back on topic

Thank you, karl. I think that sums it up perfectly.

And yes, back on topic :)

Before I get back on topic (I don't think I was ever off? :p), Fungi, Jeff, Sean, Karl - got to say I agree with all of you.

On topic...

PS4... has 60fps been confirmed?
