I wasn't aware of the "must be mounted vertically or the display will be ruined". Is this still an issue with modern models or something evolution could not cure?
When I bought my plasma TV last year, the salesman told me that it needed to be transported vertically rather than laid flat on the floor of the car. In addition, the box contains warning labels that clearly indicate which side needs to be up and to never lay it on its side or any other position. I knew someone who ruined his plasma TV from storing it flat while moving.
This issue only applies to plasma TVs, led/lcd/OLED TVs may be stored, used, and transported in any orientation. Use one of those for a vpincab playfield.
As far as I know, Plasma TV's all have a big glass pane in front of their display panel (thats why all Plasma TV's are glossy). And this glass could break if you store them horizontally.
