There is none. The only stamping is E MAY 27 at the bottom right edge of the playfield.

Well, I've finished touching up the center part of the playfield. And, man, it was a *****! Fixing little spots that are just one color isn't too bad but this involved several different colors and some mixing of paints as well. It's not perfect by any means but sure as hell looks a lot better than bare wood.

I used enamel paint since it can take more of a beating than acrylics. I did buy some sling mylar but I'm not crazy about using it. For right now I'm just gonna put three coats of wax over it and see how it holds up. I can always touch up again.

That planet pattern is so busy, yeah when playing nobody will even notice. My main wear spot is in the purplish section, not looking forward trying to recreate the silk screen dots! (cuz ya know I'm gonna try)

I did have a crazy thought for what would be an awesome mod. If I had the Adobe Illustrator skills, where you could vector graphic all those little color hashes...lay down a mirrored mylar for the planet, then paint the hashes on top of it so it'd be like the backglass but on the playfield. How cool would that be? Then, since you've now gone waaaaayy off book from the real deal, repaint all the black of space with a black that has metal flake in it. Clear coat the whole thing, it'd look like a crazy 70's van for a pinball table!

Hey SYT you're a lucky fellow!

That's a pretty clean example of a Firepower table. You are doing a great job restoring it, too.

Firepower has a special place in my heart and I think you'll enjoy it for a long, long time.

But Timelord, this is dtown8532's thread! My thread is the 'well now I have a table too'. Only thing I've done so far is depopulate the field. dtown is a lot farther than me!

Almost done cleaning and waxing but I have hit some snags along the way.
1. Game was making the wrong sounds when switches were hit. Re-soldering every connector pin on the MPU and driver boards fixed this.
2. Lane feeder kicker was not kicking the ball properly into the shooter lane. Kicking arm was loose do to mounting screws becoming unsecure. This caused the arm to become misaligned. Filling holes and remounting fixed issue.
3. Outhole kicker weak and not kicking any more than one ball over the trough hump.. Wrong plunger and linkage was installed. Too short. Replacement ordered.

Playfield is about 80% done and I will post pics once complete.

That came out looking good. If you hadn't provided the before pics the touch-ups would be barely noticeable.

Firepower's almost done. Playfield wise, she's finished though. I still have to seal the backglass and I have one annoying problem to deal with still. The sound ROMS contain all the sound and voice calls but they're making the wrong ones at various switch hits. I desoldered and resoldered EVERY connector pin on all four boards. That's probably about three hundred pins give or take. I've removed, cleaned and reinstalled every socketed chip (very tedious) and checked continuity to see if there was an issue with the sockets. I narrowed the problem to the sound board and have a few replacement components on the way to see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise the game plays fast and came out pretty nice. Here's some pics below and I'll add some normal daytime ones showing some of the work in the future. Thanks for the nice comments guys.

Nice photos! How'd you get the ball to stay on the "20"?
(I'm guessing that the playfield wasn't tilted for that photo session.)

I pulled the playfield out and a little forward. I use magazines and put one in after another until I get it level. Thanks.

I had previously mentioned about having the wrong sounds being played and traced it back to the sound board. Well, today I replaced a 40 pin chip called the PIA (Peripheral Interface Adapter). Knowing that these circuit boards are over 30 years old I purchased machined pinned sockets from Mouser Electronics and socketed the new chip which I bought from Marco's Specialties. The old chip was soldered directly to the board. This was not an easy task and took me over an hour just to do this chip. As is often the case with old boards it was very easy to damage the plated through holes and I did this to this to three of them. Two, I was able to fix with just solder but one I had to use stripped wire wrap (basically 30 gauge wire) and make a new trace. While I had the sound and speech boards off I also decided to replace the filter capacitors with a five dollar kit I bought from Great Plains Electronics. All the stuff circled in blue was replaced and replacing the PIA chip fixed my sound issues. I also installed my new Pinball Pro Speaker today. My dad works for a speaker company so I had him make me a mount since a previous owner cut out a huge hole to fit a crappy 10" Radio Shack speaker. Not original but I think it looks pretty good. Now I'm onto wringing the game out to find the little stuff like loose bulb sockets, switch adjustments, etc. Until the next problem....
