Appears something is going on within Dutch Pinball with some US pre-orders for The Big Lebowski table just spontaneously getting refunded, leading to a discussion on Pinside (which I don't normally follow, it's so toxic there and TPA is all I practically have access to for pinball anyway). Refunds came from Philip Weinberg, Dutch Pinball’s former Director of Marketing and Communications who was based in the US, and eventually he got involved in the Pinside thread. Apparently, Phil was officially brought into Dutch Pinball to help with licensing issues as NBC/Universal felt that the table kept pushing the limits of the license. Before he could do that he disclosed how he had to take care of issues sending out the Bride of Pinbot 2.0 conversion kits. Phil has cancer, and apparently the licensing worry was making him question "how many good years" he has left and if it was worth it to stay with Dutch Pinball, as he believes he would assume the risk in the US if the table pushed the limits of the licensing agreement to the point of litigation. He wanted out, and apparently wasn't getting a response, so he started refunding pre-orders to try to remove himself from the situation.

Phil Weinberg's posts in the Pinside thread (he's made more since the article was posted): https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/dp-usa-refund-still-want-the-game?tu=phil-dp-usa

I hadn't been following that closely beyond watching the video that came out recently, but happened across this and it's been fascinating to go through.
