The Big Lebowski Pinball prototype

Appears something is going on within Dutch Pinball with some US pre-orders for The Big Lebowski table just spontaneously getting refunded, leading to a discussion on Pinside (which I don't normally follow, it's so toxic there and TPA is all I practically have access to for pinball anyway). Refunds came from Philip Weinberg, Dutch Pinball’s former Director of Marketing and Communications who was based in the US, and eventually he got involved in the Pinside thread. Apparently, Phil was officially brought into Dutch Pinball to help with licensing issues as NBC/Universal felt that the table kept pushing the limits of the license. Before he could do that he disclosed how he had to take care of issues sending out the Bride of Pinbot 2.0 conversion kits. Phil has cancer, and apparently the licensing worry was making him question "how many good years" he has left and if it was worth it to stay with Dutch Pinball, as he believes he would assume the risk in the US if the table pushed the limits of the licensing agreement to the point of litigation. He wanted out, and apparently wasn't getting a response, so he started refunding pre-orders to try to remove himself from the situation.

Article giving a good overview: http://deadpixelcult.com/2014/12/15...-is-the-big-lebowski-pinball-game-in-trouble/
Phil Weinberg's posts in the Pinside thread (he's made more since the article was posted): https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/dp-usa-refund-still-want-the-game?tu=phil-dp-usa
The entire Pinside thread (almost 1000 posts as of now): https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/dp-usa-refund-still-want-the-game

I hadn't been following that closely beyond watching the video that came out recently, but happened across this and it's been fascinating to go through.

Weird drama BS. Still would like to see that game being made and maybe buy one in 10 years.

I was a bit surprised when paypal told me someone had given me more than 6000 Euro all of a sudden. At least I am not stuck, like some of the other customers.

When all is settled with Phil and DP, I will probably re-order.

At least they've got Roger Sharpe on the team now, to handle the last of the Universal hurdles.

Dutch Pinball brought two of the tables (with alpha code) to Modern Pinball NYC last week for a special event. I only got to play it once; there was quite a wait list for it. Very fun table, great use of audio from the movie, cool features. My game wasn't too long, unfortunately. I know there were issues with balls going missing after making a lock, but again, this was alpha code.

followed by this one - the software here won't let me embed more than one video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dVa-lKurMM

but there are now dozens of these things. there was a fantastic one about Metallica pinball late code but i can't find it now, and i think there was one about the WOZ 75th anniversary edition as well.
