F*ck em'. Vote with your dollar. Starsh!t Troopers can suck a d!ck. Won't get my cash.

Edit: You know what? It doesn't matter anyway. FarSight's EM recreation's feel like crap anyway.

People. If you want an EM, just go buy one. They're not too expensive. Fireball excluded. Oh, wait. Not enough desire for that 2k plus dollar EM from 1972.

BTW. You know why they don't want to do an EM? It's hard. It requires scripting of the entire table because there's no emulation to plug in.

How on earth have you not been in trouble yet? That was quite the statement, sir! :p

Well I took that to mean an early SS or and EM and I submitted Ace High as it's a table I enjoyed from the original Gottlieb collection and it would be nice if they dropped that in at some point; I'd happily pay full price.

As it stands I also like Bally tables from the late-70s/early 80s, so I voted Xenon in the second round too (also hoping for Eight-Ball Deluxe).

Why? Because, since the beginning I've supported FarSight and haven't been very critical of anything they've done.

This recent poll was horse sh!t since they went against their requisite of the game being pre-1980. Xenon was NOT manufactured till that year.

Anyway, when I heard their Facebook statement of this just being "for fun" it re-invigorated my feeling that, regardless of the outcome, they'd do one EM this season. Ya know. Like they said they would.

Then, when I heard this, it, just, well, disgusted me. If the mods are that upset, ban me. I've been a good boy on here for almost three years.

I love pinball. I spend hours of my life bringing "dead" machines back to life. Why? Because I love seeing them live again. Even if I don't care for a title I gain personal satisfaction in its new owner enjoying the game.

This whole thing just disgusted me.

I personally feel it's a valid complaint/concern that I happen to agree with and you have been an upstanding member so you certainly won't get banned...but let's try to be a bit more constructive and respectful with our complaints. :)

This recent poll was horse sh!t since they went against their requisite of the game being pre-1980. Xenon was NOT manufactured till that year.

Second place by a mile was also not an EM -- Paragon.

Fireball (an EM) was third, but in general most of the early SS pins in this poll did better. Fourth was not an EM (Flash). Tied for fifth -- two pins not EMs (mostly), Mata Hari and Future Spa.

All the actual EMs aside from Fireball basically brought up the rear -- Spirit of 76, Royal Flush, Centigrade 37. Though two mostly SS pinballs were even less popular (Time Warp and Joker Poker), admittedly. (Time Warp I can see why. Those flippers are weird....) This shows that a good EM can defeat mediocre SS choices (as I've said in the past, something like Spirit of 76 would've gone down better than LCA in general :p). But it does also show that a well liked early SS gets a better crowd than a well liked EM.

One of the problems with the EM request IMHO is there really doesn't tend to be one single title that people rally around. Fireball's the closest thing but in general the request tends to be more of a "make an EM" broad deal.

It would be nice to see Fireball eventually, but not before Xenon and Paragon which are the two pins in this poll people do seem to care a lot more about. I'll add that based on Facebook I think there's (unfortunately) more support for other early 80s SS pins like Eight Ball Deluxe.

Anyone complaining about Xenon being in a "pre-1980" poll is off base. You're quibbling over semantics in the title. It's clear it really meant "1980 or earlier" and if it were titled that way nobody would care. You're grasping at straws for something to complain about.

If you're complaining that Xenon is pushing out the chance to have an EM, and even that Farsight intentionally structured the poll for that to happen, you may be correct. But also still off base in the larger picture, since it's pretty clear Xenon would considerably outsell any EM and so Farsight should do it.

EMs just aren't as popular as a vocal minority wants them to be.

I have dropped more money into this than any other video game ever. This was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I will never buy Xenon now on principle, plus censorship is LAME. If they did not mention things, people would not expect them ie: EMs, DX11, WiiU, cab support etc... They already have my money on the no trophy having, screwed up sound ps4 version of season 2 AND season 4 on pc, which I purchased after the King interview calming an EM. Things like this make it hard to stay a pinball arcade FAN. Once again a false promise has angered some of this games base users.

Actually, pre-1980 means anything up to Dec 31st, 1979 (at least to me). B.C. (before Christ) is the period of time up to, but not including the day Christ was born.

Anyway, though Xenon violates this rule, I have no problem with it winning and will buy it on day one. Paragon will also get a purchase from me when it comes out (and it will). One second place poll entrant just came out (Earthshaker), and I'm sure EBD and Seawitch aren't too far off.

As far as the EM's, I hope Farsight will do one, just as a test. I'd bet Spirit of '76 would get decent sales to offset production costs. EM's will never win in a poll if an SS is in it. But that doesn't mean an EM wouldn't sell.

i agree with everything you've said. It's boggles my mind how convoluted this process has been.

To be honest, I had an idea this was going on.

Bit disappointed for a lack of variety, but I enjoy all eras so I'll be happy with whatever FS makes.

No EM
Am I surprised? Nope
Am I disappointed? Yes I am

I'm also not surprised Xenon is winning the poll. But that doesn't mean Paragon, Fireball or any of the others don't merit recreation. Put Metallica in the poll and see what wins. Does that now mean Xenon is crap and wouldn't sell? Of corse it doesn't. Polls are garbage. They are going to make whatever they feel like anyway.

I personally am not a fan of EMs, and tend to play one game out of 'duty' when someone has one to play at our league nights. That being said, I do think it is truly jacked up to not be 100% forthright when setting up a poll. I did vote for Fireball both times, because I think it is the one EM that would sell, mainly because people know the name. I've played in the past year probably a dozen EMs, and the only other 2 I can actually remember the names of are Captain Fantastic and 300. But, FarSight made the promise and I think that was a pretty sneaky way to prove a point.

I do have to laugh at some of our member's knee jerk reactions regarding playing TPA and supporting it anymore. If I were buying tables as they come out, I'd certainly weigh whether I wanted it or not on the merits of that table, not because something else got taken away. I don't buy anything in TPA because of promises made. I buy it for the game it is, and will be happily surprised when things like DX 11, head to head multiplayer, a new UI, better flipper physics, and difficulty modes get added. If you are buying TPA based on ANYTHING FarSight would 'like' to do, you are simply deluding yourself. That's like getting mad at a car manufacturer for not selling the concept car.

Anyways, vent away. I do think FarSight should know it makes nobody happy to have the rug pulled from under them.

For me it's a personal opinion but EMs aren't that impressive to me. Perhaps I've been spoiled with tables that have some form of Multi-ball. Fireball would be an exception I think. Even so when there was a poll for EMs, I didn't vote mostly because they're not alluring enough. Perhaps if I play one in real life at places like pinball hall of Fame in Vegas or if I ever find myself at PAPA, I would be a little more sensible.

I'm still pissed The Homer hasn't made it to production when they announced it 24 years ago. I refuse to buy another Powel Motors car. If a friend offers a ride in one I walk. I even shun my eyes when there's one coming down the street. Where's my bubble dome car!?

Yeah I never get that thought process. If I took the moral high ground for every broken promise a game developer made well I guess I would have to find a different hobby by now.

I don't really care about the results of the poll because I like all the games, but I'm curious to know how EBD would have fared this time around. It was produced less than a year after Xenon and belongs to the same era of pinball.

Farsight is a frustrating company. They have some great people working there but the decision makers (bobby and jay) have shown such disinterest, incompetence, and a lack of integrity that it truly makes it more and more difficult to support the product as each lie and blunder make it more daunting to separate the company from the game. I'm personally reaching a point where I am not sure if I can continue to support it despite how much I do enjoy the product, faults and all. I just hate companies that repeatedly can't get their act together, function without accountability and blatantly lie.
