I wish Loaded Weapon was on Netflix. Now I want to watch it again. Looks like I need to take to the high seas of the internet, if ya know what I mean =)

Wow. I thought I was the only one that liked loaded weapon. Happy to be proven wrong by yall once again. Same thing with pinball, I'd show it to people like "you have to see this" and they're just like waaa? There's so many good jokes in there. The best is when he comes home to his camper/mansion and pours every type of booze imaginable into a drink (with a little chocolate syrup) and downs it in one gulp. Thanks to editing. And then cries and ashes over his dog picture. I honestly can't be friends with anyone that doesn't like this movie. Same thing goes with TPA. If a very close friend is like, 'eh I just don't like pinball, it's just not fun to me' they are writen out of my life. Go have a good time with your unfun life. And learn to take life a little less seriously. Im still a bit erked by SYT not liking Young Frankenstein. Yeah, it's not a laugh-a-minute comedy, but it's great to watch when there's a creepy atmosphere, and you are by yourself. My thing is that I get drawn into the characters so easily. So even though I might not be laughing, I just love watching these characters. Have I babbled enough?

Maybe I'm just a easily amused, but I'm a sucker for all spoof movies. Even the newer ones. A Haunted House had me cracking up so hard. Love that way over-the-top stuff. Even Meet the Spartans had me lolling. Deformed Paris Hilton's little fake dog awesome, especially when she touches it with her gross hand.
meh........ don't like much the new ones. I don't know is it because I am old and boring or is it because movies are plain stupid and not just silly stupid like before.
The only one from last 10 years or so that I really liked is Vampires Suck.
OK, and Epic Movie because of Stifler's mom :D

Hmm I'll have to check those out. It's all about the attitude you bring with you into the movie. With A Haunted House there's going to be a Wyle-E-Coyote factor, aka anvils falling on heads. Mixed with Family Guy type humor. If you know that going in, it'll be better. But you have to be a fan of that type of humor. If a movie can pull that combo of with live action, that's a win. Ted did this aswell, but after watching it a thousand times, lemme put it this way... They try to ramp up the action-to-comedy ratio, but it kind of takes you out when you know Seth is just rambling off 1-liners the whole movie. Seriously, if you only listen to the audio, it's 'Seth M funny line placed here, back to the flakey plot, back to Seth M 1 liner. The thing that makes the movie is the great animation

Just wanted to add that as a kid my FAVORITE show was Kablam. It was the perfect mix of demented cartoon sketches, and comic books. One of the few that still holds up today (for me). Sorry for derailing this thread. Back to the porn...

TO THE RIGHT! I MEANT STAY TO THE RIGHT!!!!!!

Loaded Weapon rules and yes anyone who disagrees is not friend-worthy.

I'm also that way when it comes to Ren & Stimpy.

Here's why I don't like modern spoof movies...they are nothing but "hey remember that funny YouTube video from last year? Well here it is again!" They are so reliant on current pop culture, that the joke is often stale even by the time the movie is released. There's little thought into setting up the joke proper. You might still laugh, but usually not at the joke they are telling, but because of the original situation. Airplane and Naked Gun also relied on pop culture, but it was wrapped around the joke.

For example, the disco dance in Airplane is obviously a take on Saturday Night Fever. Watch it today without reference to that movie, and most of it still plays funny. That is because it was telling it's own joke, and then giving a nod and a wink. For that matter, I never saw Airport '77 or whatever other airplane disaster movie they were mocking, nor did I need to. These modern spoofs? If you don't know the source material, you won't laugh once.

And then there's Young Frankenstein. Maybe what bothers me is that it gets ranked within the top 10 comedies on all these lists. I can think of a dozen movies without even trying that can make me laugh without even trying. Nothing in YF made me laugh. The only time I smiled was when they did the big knockers joke, and that was because I knew what the punchline was because it was so obvious. Is it a loving homage? Sure. Funny? Nope.

Hey Doctor ShutYerTrap. I'm gonna have to go ahead and agree with you on YF. It's the only Frankenstein spoof that I know of (I'm sure there are more out there). So I give it more credit than it deserves. Also the nostalgia factor has a lot to do with it. On a different note, Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter sounded like it was going to be a comedy. It wasn't bad at all, but that would've been the perfect premise for a newer spoof movie. You're totally right about the joke being a joke in itself. For example in Meet the Dpartans, xerxes is a transformer and has a literal YouTube video on his chest of 'leave Britney alone'. It's cheap. I think that was the joke though. Being so lazy that you just rehash a youtuberz. Don't listen to me though because the movie I laughed at the most when it came out was dude where's my car

I seem to find for the most part that Mel Brooks movies are kind of like Monty Python, you either love them or hate them.
I think it's because they both stay true to their style of humor. Pretty easy to spot a Brooks or Python production.

And then?
No and then.
And then and then and then!

You kidding me? It's no Bill and Ted's or Harold and Kumar, but it is damn funny.

I don't know. As a kid, I loved History of the World and Spaceballs. I saw Men in Tights opening weekend. Something changed for me though, almost like I liked them then for how subversive I thought they were, but now they're quite tame. Python on the other hand, I've loved since I was 13, and I find them every bit as subversive now but back then I didn't 'get' that. I just liked silly walks and people getting hit on the head with fish.
