Not too big on Zen Pinball, myself. I respect what they are doing and wish them the best success, but their tables just don't hold my attention for very long.

I for one definitely love Zen Pinball. Beautifully crafted tables built from the ground up with their own original idea and soundtrack. I actually like them a bit better than TPA. However, I still love both Zen and Farsight. I'm not in that stupid war people have with choosing a company (Zen or Farsight) and totally bashing the other. Both companies are extremely good for any pinball lover.

Yeah, any company keeping pinball alive and relevant can only be seen as a good thing. You know, I've only tried a handful of their tables, and I haven't experienced the improvements of Zen Pinball 2. I might have to download it and give it a go.

I just posted about how Sony is introducing their "Cross-Controller" feature next week.
http://digitalpinballfans.com/showthread.php/2861-quot-Cross-Controller-quot-will-this-be-supported

This sounds very much like what the Wii-U is doing (dual screen, dual camera, gyro, touch controls, two different views for a single game).

I think this is a good thing for both Wii-U and PS3 owners since they can use their new additions on both systems and bring some new & exciting features to both the PS3 and Wii-U.
Even if they just started out by letting you use the gyro controls to nudge the table I would be happy.

...well at this point I don't think it's any great leap to assume that TPA will not be available for "The Siren" (Wii U) in 2012 :( Disappointing. Hopefully FS will at least give us a clue before year's end...

From Pin Wiz's most recent General Updates post:
• FarSight is still working hard on the Wii U version and is looking to submit it to Nintendo and release it as soon as possible.

So, I read this as "It's still coming, you know some time... soon-ish, but we really aren't close enough to hazard a ballpark guess as to when."

Not as encouraging as I'm sure it was intended to be, but better than a stick in the eye, to use an old phrase.

I'm just expecting a March/April release. Not going to lie here. If I'm surprised and it hits before that...then FANTASTIC! Other than that, I think its a spring '13 release.

Well, Nintendo's "launch window" (ha) ends at the end of March, and FS said before that they were hoping/planning to get TPA out during said "window". Hopefully they will make it. With a month and a half to spare. And all current tables packs available on Day 1.

I got a basic unit at launch and I'm enjoying it. I'm going download-only this console generation, so less retail games and more stuff from indies. So far so good. Prices are decent, there's sales in eShop (in Europe anyway) and the games are nice to look at. I'm getting both Zen and Pinball Arcade.

I don't get the impatience for a release, though. I mean it sounds like it's definitely getting released; the business model definitely sounds more appealing than the Xbox given there's no charge for patch releases and the consoles been out for a few weeks so what's the rush, exactly? Are people on this board watching too much TV or something?

XBOX 360. That is the reason for my impatience. No new tables in many moons. I'm hoping to migrate my TPA experience from the troublesome 360 to the Wii U, with extra features and better lighting, ASAP. I am a serious pinball aficionado, sadly without a nice tablet, or the money to collect real tables. I do get out to play real pinball on a semi-regular basis, but unfortunately for me the major metropolitan area I live in sucks for places to play pinball, and the one place that I do go was down to 14 tables from a once-upon-a-time high of 27, last I was there, and only 1 of them is in TPA, and has still not been released on Xbox 360 (CFTBL). TPA is not 'videogaming' to me, it's pinball, even if in digital form (Zen is videogaming, it's not junk, but it's not 'pinball'), so my impatience is wanting more pinball in my life, not just "looking for something to do". Plus, there is the "puppy in the pet store window" effect - Everybody with a nice smartphone or tablet already has CFTBL, Scared Stiff, TZ, EATPM, and etc., and I don't as a 360 player, makes the waiting worse.

Not to mention that they said they were going to release TPA on "The Siren" and I quote, "as close to the system's launch as possible". Okay, might be a paraphrase, but something to that extent was said, and we are already a month past launch, with no real sign of a release date, and very little information. And, I for one, want them to get it out before the 360 version's publisher issues are resolved and they are releasing new tables for it, because I don't want the conundrum, and to "rebuy" as few tables as possible, but if they do magically make it out on 360 before the Wii U version has a release date, the temptation to buy them will be extreme.

While I've been recently agreeing with you on your post, I'll have to disagree about Zen not being "pinball". Just because its not the pinball experience you desire...doesn't mean its not pinball. Zen is a very good pinball company. I really don't understand the amount of hate that some people here have for them. Really I don't. They bring a different type of flavor to the pinball genre. TPA is in no way or shape "perfect". I can say quite a few things, but at the end of the day...I love pinball. I respect FarSight and Zen for what they do and have done. You gotta give Zen credit too.

Well, submitted to Nintendo is pretty promising. There can't be too many games they have to approve just yet, and they are probably eager to get more content out for their customers. Zen totally got the jump on Farsight, though.

Yep that's good news. I'm actually looking forward to repurchasing most of these tables and playing them with buttons!

I cannot wait for TPA to drop on the WiiU. Looking at those specs Pin Wiz posted got me really excited. Judging by looking at them...it would seem that the Wii U will have the best version out of all the consoles. Can't speak for PC though. The PC may actually trump everyone. I don't care though. GIVE ME THE WII U VERSION PLEASE!!!! :D

I have played a great deal of Zen, but I've played a great deal more real pinball, and a great deal more TPA, and TPA "feels" as much like pinball as anything short of shoving around a real 250+lbs machine can, Zen doesn't "feel" anything like that. It's fun, and I will support their Wii U release of Zen Pinball 2 with a purchase of several tables, but it's not pinball. It's just not enough like the real thing for me to put it in the same category, but TPA is, so I do. Plain and simple. Not hatin', but I'm also not about to consider them equal, just because they both exist. The world needs doubles up the middle, but that doesn't mean they're home runs. I've just played too much real pinball, including the majority of tables in TPA, and on everyone's most wanted lists, to not prefer TPA by a wide margin, bugs and all.

Pin Wiz's post says "looking to submit it to Nintendo", not that they actually have. They could be "looking" to submit for months still for all we know, until they actually have, the time frame for release is still completely up in the air, unfortunately.

Though, I haven't got the new newsletter yet for some reason, so if it was in that... would be great news.

Then that is your opinion if its not "real" pinball to you. I have also played enough real pinball in my time and I still can appreciate what Zen has been doing. Building tables from the ground up along with adding their on voice work and DMD animations and such. You're right..just because they exist doesn't mean you can consider them equal. I'm sure there are some others that may feel the same way about TPA. I just get tired of people here constantly bashing Zen when all they are trying to do is appeal to casual gamers who wouldn't even think of playing pinball. I personally know at least 6 people who have played Zen's Marvel tables because they were comic fans. After they played the tables, they decided they liked pinball. So they also got TPA and they love it. Funny thing is...the people over at Zen got mad love for FarSight and you may have about 2 people over there that actually may speak badly on FS. Other than that...everyone loves them. Although I like Zen a bit more, I still love TPA and don't hold them to an expectant pedestal of authentic pinball. I think we can all agree that when it comes to authentic pinball...FarSight is where its at. I still enjoy Zen for what they bring and that's that.
