I see that the new update (9.1.3) from Oct. 20th has this in the release notes:
- Added controller button support to key options for all controllers - Koadic!

http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=21646

Have you tried that yet?

cheers jeff, am going to try it out

edit: well the program doesnt seem to recognize an xbox360 controller, but the good thing is with this version i get no pad premapping of buttons, so i can use xpadder and play normally :)

ah, so today i finally got it working so i can play the flintstones table (one of my favourites)...

it was a REAL pain in the behind setting everything up and it took me like 4 days to get it working (2 out of 3 of the old vp versions, not the one jeff linked to, just didn't work at all, those that did couldnt use the xbox360 pad), the frame rate drops dramatically when the table flashes a lot with jackpots and suprejackpots, and the sound is all crackly and tried numerous settings but to no avail... but hey it works good enough ;)

but vp really isn't much harder than tpa... or rather at all... but the flipper physics are better i suppose...

too bad the flintstones pinball will probably never see the light of day in tpa form :(

or maybe some day i'll have enough money to buy a real flintstones table... that'd be really nice

Can anyone recommend a screen that can be oriented flat rather than just lying it on it's back?

Oh and I just made it to the Final Frontier on STTNG :D

And completed the wizard mode on AFM

Hey Carl,

Any LCD screen should be fine laying on it's back.however, if you want to use it specifically for a pinball monitor, it might be easier to remove the plastic bezel from around the display. It's typically not that hard, just find the plastic clips and whatever screws might be holding the monitor mount to it (hint...look under stickers lol). I've posted a youtube video showing my cheap laptop "cabinet" setup but that was before i removed the bezel on my monitor. Now there's a lot less bulk.

If you are using a Plasma screen, i can't recommend laying it on it's back, from my research it's got nothing to do with buggering up the display, however, unlike LCD screens, plasmas have a thin pane of glass that of course is very brittle, if the display bends under it's own weight, that glass will crack and i'm pretty sure that it's important for the function of the screen.

Hey Itchigo!

---

Anyone done any tweaking to the nudge settings in VP.
I'm using an old Sidewinder pad, with an analogue d-pad for nudge.

Any one got any tips on adjusting nudge settings, tilt sensitivity, nudge force etc.

I've tried adjusting settings in the key edit gui, but doesn't seem to have an effect.

Also I don't know if it can be done, but I'd like to adjust the amount the table graphic moves when nudged, I can't always see it on my laptop screen, I'd like a similar movement to TPA really.

I'll have to have a dig on VPForums.org.
Just being lazy in case anyone already knew this.

South Park is a fun silly table :p

I see AC/DC has popped up on vpforums but reports are it doesn't work.

Could you recommend an actual screen? My concern is viewing angles as when it's flat, you're effectively viewing it from the side.

Myself, I just use a 22" Acer from Walmart.

It looks good and you can even see it fine in my youtube video (posted a few places around the site).
Aside from that, i can't really make a specific recommendation.

By the begining of next week,
I'd recommend big bang bar v2
It has been updTed by jimmyfingers and myself.
Optomized and updated to use the new features of vp as well as jf's physics routines.

Il be releasing it early next week at vpuniverse. And later at vpf.

Jf will also be releasing his mod of jp salas afm. It has 8 step fading gi as well as the physics routines. Plays like a dream.

All coming early next week
