I'm actually surprised FS didn't wait for the Xbox stuff to finally be released before starting the KS. That's a big audience that I'm sure aren't pledging until they know they can get the game on their system of choice.

Yeah, it is kind of surprising.

Like I said, there's more than a handful of angry fans out there. Again, I understand the frustration, but wanting them to fail is just stupid.

I also thought that the kickstarter would coincide with the release of tables on the X-Box. Color me surprised.

If color DMD is one of those then that would be nice.

This feature for all tables would be nice

Well we have 30 days of this KickStarter, who's not to say that in that time frame the MicroSoft version won't be released, will give the KS a massive injection in the middle of the 30 days were a lot KS see very little movement. Maybe FarSight have a plan

Then it will just be about the Wii U version for people to moan about......but there's not THAT nanny Wii U owners is there :D

I've been think and I don't think FarSight should ever release the Gold table as a standard downloadable table later on otherwise it just make this $100 tier worthless if that ever happens. People who are *****ing about not being able to get the Gold version later down the line need to put their money where their mouth is now or shut up about it!

I would back this $100 tier if I had an iron clad insurance from FarSight that the Gold Version would never be made available as a standard downloadable table later down the line, if they wanted to include it in a Collectors Edition of the physical game (if it was ever to be sold in the shops) then I also wouldn't mind that but as a standard downloadable table that anyone could get then I'm not happy with that.

FarSight you NEED to make a statement on this and be crystal clear and not be on the fence and state weather the Gold version will ever be available outside this KickStater tier, otherwise you haven't got me as a $100 tier backer and will just pledge to get the standard table

I heard that the standard table is better than the gold edition table anyways. Unless someone proves otherwise I will just stick to getting the standard table.

Backed at the Gold Level. I don't care if Gold edition is exclusive or not, as long as I can have both editions available in TPA. But a clarification on KS would certainly boost pledges even more...

The only downside to this fast start is, that it has 1.300 backers already and previous kickstarters had around 2.000 backers total. I hope the fan base grew the last year ;)

Considering the number of pinball aficionados there are globally, I'd expect a higher number of backers for such an iconic table to be immortalised.

I am in for $100 for the gold table, but i have no issues if it is a timed exclusive, i think all pinball fans should have access to all PBA tables, to me that $100 is for the table to be made and released on PBA, getting the perks is a bonus, but it should not be locked away from others who cannot afford to go the $100 at kickstart, we get to play it first, then later everybody else gets the chance to enjoy it later down the line, it's a win win for all. :)

I'm in for $50 (the physics altering balls were a must have for me), but might consider upping it to $100 depending on what other information comes out about the gold edition.

It's early yet. Plenty of people are still learning about it and others are getting there finances in order before pledging. Have no fear.

Indeed, it hasn't (seemingly) appeared on any of the larger games sites/blogs yet - Hopefully that will drive some traffic their way :)

It might help if FS mentioned the Kickstater on the Pinball Arcade website main page, and if the news section had an actual link. Just sayin'.

A big group of people will find out about the kickstarter when the iOS update hits. Not everyone is on this forum or gets the Farsight newsletter. So that should help as well.

As for my dream version of Addams Family.
I'd like the original pin as I think it looks better than the gold. But I want the gold rom in it so I can have the additional callouts and animations. Then add the following three mods - color DMD, Uncle Fester in the electric chair, and the polar bear rug above the bear kick ramp. Yeah, I know it's not gonna happen.

Art Changes:
FS has to change the images for Fester and Pugsley. I don't like that they have to change this, but what I'm really wondering about is the legality of this. I imagine Williams owns the images, and that's fine. However, the art is still a representation of the artist John Youssi, and you can't change his art and still call it his. I also don't like it when FS modifies a table (like removing a song or something). I feel it's not fully preserved. The only change I can accept is squashing original bugs.

My Hesitation On Pledging:
I really wished they would have added a Season 4 tier; that would have made things easier for me to decide. The physics balls are not an incentive to me personally. I really like the special Gold edition option, but at $100 it makes it really hard. If it was $50 that might be easier for me to decide, but it's really hard to convince the wife that I want to spend $100 for a digital pinball table. I think I need more answers on how exclusive this is, before I pledge. Having it exclusive for a year or so, might be a decent incentive. I wouldn't want it to never be available; it sucks for fans that haven't yet discovered TPA. I've been in that situation with games before, and it doesn't feel good.

Balls:
I'm on the fence on how I feel about the physics balls. On one hand it sounds like it could be really fun to play around with. I commend FS for doing something really unique. But the biggest reason I enjoy TPA is that it's realistic and doesn't alter the tables. Are the balls going to be realistic? This would really change how the tables are supposed to play, which I don't like. Although if it was something realistic, like heavier balls or something, I guess you could do that if you owned the physical table. I dunno.

Pessimistic Outcome:
As of writing this, TAF Kickstarter has over $38K, which is a great start! According to Kicktraq, it's heading towards $393K, which would be amazing! However, I think a more realistic view is to look at how many people have pledged in the past TPA Kickstarters. The number of backers has gone down with each Kickstarter, with the most starting at 2365. TAF average backer has pledged $26. So if there were 2365 backers this time, it would only reach $61K, far from its goal. I hope this doesn't happen, but it does make me worried.

Future Note:
I really hope this Kickstarter succeeds. This is like a test for future big licensed tables they want to make. If TAF fails, then that will really make them think twice about adding some really great, but expensive games in the future, such as The Simpsons.

Again, not everyone has an extra $100.00 layin around the house, don't be childish.

(...) I personally hope it only remains exclusive for no longer than a year. That's long enough for you to feel 'special'. Exclusives everyone else can't get later blow. Just look to retail exclusive Blu-Rays to see how much backlash that gets you.

+1

Wait. Uncle Fester in the electric chair is a mod?!? It's been so long since I've seen a table without him.

The painting over of Christopher Llyod brings up an interesting question. Could Farsight release THE SHADOW without getting permission from Alec Baldwin? He only appears on the back glass and I believe his voice is not in the game. Since back glasses are less important in pinball arcade I'd be all for this to get the table.

Plus, that backglass is awful to begin with.
