There will be no EM this season

I can easily fill out the next two season with highly requested tables that are popular and cheap to obtain.

1. Fireball
3. Rescue 911
6. World Cup Soccer
7. Indianapolis 500
8. Judge Dredd

That's two seasons, done with ease. All highly requested, all easily obtainable for a cheap cost. I think the only questionable one is Judge Dredd, but I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I'm not looking to argue with you or go tit for tat. i really don't want to continue the discussion with you. I'll just point out you initially said 40. that's 20 and disqualify these 5 for 1 being an EM and the other 4 being licenses that would be expensive to obtain. Also when trying to prove a point about not needing EMs. don't make your first table you list an EM. But thank you for not putting in Freddy as the halloween table. lol :p

I know how many I listed. It was just an example of 2 easy seasons. Secondly, I still believe we'll get an EM next season, especially after all this backlash. Third, none of those would be expensive (Kickstarter). In fact, we already have R911 on the way for next season, and World Cup has been talked about for years. Fourth, why would I put Freddy in there?

Keep trying, though.

(PS- Don't continue a conversation with me after saying you don't want to continue a conversation with me. Duh.)

If the original intent was to do one EM this season and let the poll decide it, then why start a poll that isn't strictly EM's? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense...but hey, can't say I'm surprised as a lot of their manegerial decisions don't make much sense.

As silverballs pointed out, long live VP.

I personally am not a fan of EMs, and tend to play one game out of 'duty' when someone has one to play at our league nights. That being said, I do think it is truly jacked up to not be 100% forthright when setting up a poll. I did vote for Fireball both times, because I think it is the one EM that would sell, mainly because people know the name. I've played in the past year probably a dozen EMs, and the only other 2 I can actually remember the names of are Captain Fantastic and 300. But, FarSight made the promise and I think that was a pretty sneaky way to prove a point.

I do have to laugh at some of our member's knee jerk reactions regarding playing TPA and supporting it anymore. If I were buying tables as they come out, I'd certainly weigh whether I wanted it or not on the merits of that table, not because something else got taken away. I don't buy anything in TPA because of promises made. I buy it for the game it is, and will be happily surprised when things like DX 11, head to head multiplayer, a new UI, better flipper physics, and difficulty modes get added. If you are buying TPA based on ANYTHING FarSight would 'like' to do, you are simply deluding yourself. That's like getting mad at a car manufacturer for not selling the concept car.

Anyways, vent away. I do think FarSight should know it makes nobody happy to have the rug pulled from under them.

For the most part,I agree with you. I'm not the biggest EM fan either, but there are some out there that do play well and deserve a place in TPA. FS should have been more specific when announcing this poll. That would have cleared things up at least somewhat.

Pre-1980 means exactly that. BEFORE 1980. Which means Xenon shouldn't have qualified in the first place. Period. You could be developing something for 10 years, but it means squat until it's released for sale.

And no,I'm not hating on Xenon winning. I'll gladly buy it when it comes out. And if Paragon/Fireball ever make it into TPA,I'll get them both. But the decision makers at FS should really take a good look at this thread. Maybe learn something from it. And do better the next time. Because the more you divide or ignore your fanbase, the worse it will be for your product in the end.

I am good with MAME and DAPHNE, but I would love to play either VP or FP, specifically the table Baby Pac-Man, I have always had a weakness for this table and I would love to play it again. What are the odds the TPA would ever release this table?

Now that is an EM I would love to see - have had over 10 balls at once in the VP version.

The multiball (> 10) starts around the 1.50 mark in this video of the really 1956 table:

That is a nice pin. I grew up with pins like this from the 70's. I love the classic bell sounds these pins made. Brings me back to my childhood in the 70's going to the bowling alleys and hearing the sounds of bowling balls crashing pins and the arcade with the pinball machines bells chiming away. AHHHHH memories :)

Getting the license from NAMCO for Pac-man, plus simulating a pinball/video game hybrid. Chances are zero to zilch.

That game was also a big part of the namco/midway lawsuit that ended their business relationship and transferred all the ms PAC man rights to namco.

I realize I already did pay for Xenon when I got my season 4 pass :p I am sorry for my rage filled b**** fit regarding the lack of EM'age. I still love you Farsight please dont leave me :( Seriously I will buy what ever they put out. But I would really appreciate some EMs someday. There ARE good ones, lots of them and I was born in 83'

That's a big part of the problem. They will continue to operate the way they do because of this reason. Monopolies suck.

Monopolies? It's not like pinball is a sports license that can handle two companies making games utilizing it. On top of that, say Zen did have the ability to do Bally/Williams/Gotlieb/Stern stuff. Do you really think both them and FS would release more than a handful of overlapping tables? Instead what you'd get is having to switch back and forth between base games. Talk about annoying.

As for getting down on someone that buys whatever they put out...if the product they produced were a 5 out of 10, then certainly blame could be placed on the public for continually feeding them cash. I think the majority of people would say the product as produced (not promised!) has met or exceeded what those original 4 tables played like, and most would have ranked that at least a 7 or 8. So if I were buying tables individually, why would it make sense for me to NOT buy table x, which is a popular choice regardless, because table z is being excluded due to shenanigans behind the scenes? If it is a table you actually want, seems you are only punishing yourself.

I was only born in 1989 and well, I really prefer the modern tables because there is more going on. They look great and sound great. We live in modern times, it will be very hard for Pinball Arcade to find love for those very old tables because people have been used to modern games. I really don't care about any old table with just those bells and ****, that would just annoy me rather then allow me to enjoy it. Just get over it, EM's are not popular in current times, time to move on.

F*ck em'. Vote with your dollar. Starsh!t Troopers can suck a d!ck. Won't get my cash.

Edit: You know what? It doesn't matter anyway. FarSight's EM recreation's feel like crap anyway.

People. If you want an EM, just go buy one. They're not too expensive. Fireball excluded. Oh, wait. Not enough desire for that 2k plus dollar EM from 1972.

BTW. You know why they don't want to do an EM? It's hard. It requires scripting of the entire table because there's no emulation to plug in.

I thought I was the true complaining king,
but I've just handed my ranting crown to him!

I really wish people would quit trying to play the age card. I was also born in 89, and I love EM tables. I'm pretty much the exact opposite as you and I'm the same age. I get bored of games with too many rules and an overwhelming amout of modes way too quickly.

To me, the best era of pinball will forever be the alphanumeric/WMS System 11 era of the late 80s/early 90s because it strikes a perfect balance of enough rules to keep you busy without being too much of a chore to get through.

Regardless of your age.....,Sometimes you feel like a nut ....... Sometimes you don't !

New tables are a ton of fun, however I also enjoy the simplicity of some of the older tables (and trust me, they aren't all easy at all!)
