What's wrong with these? They have the cruder season 1 feel to the physics, but I'm not aware of any outright bugs with them. The camera on MB behaves fine for me on PC.
That data is better. This thread, compared to that, has at least three problems going on. One is the obvious small sample size of ~10 data points compared to several hundred, so yes, those outliers are within the high expected variance.
Two is multiple endpoints. Several people here have a...
We've already got this data, over in the table ratings thread. Just look at the lowest 10 there and that's pretty much the consensus we see here. Maybe ask smbhax for the underlying data if you want to slice and dice it more.
Yeah, Farsight did High Speed pretty well, although the flippers are overpowered and the ramp is way too easy, but that doesn't kill the game. But I mean that High Speed itself turned out not nearly as exciting in TPA as it was in 1986. You get multiball, shoot the jackpot... and that's all...
Only by TPA's railroad physics. The transfer-point timing windows are too tight on both of these. CBW's is just a drop target that shouldn't be hard at all to hit (compare shooting Big Shot's identical target which is cake.) HRC shouldn't be any harder than any other orbit on any other table...
I get it now - you could set the ball count within the operator's menu, then save that as a separate ROM starting state to be used for head-to-head play.
So never mind head-to-head -- just do the same thing to give us a decent tournament mode setup for tourneys!
You guys all know that TPA already did a game with a backbox playfield five years ago, right? Cirqus Voltaire.
Also Scared Stiff's spider spin. Banzai Run is completely doable if they want.
(Although it's going to be the next High Speed in the "we got all excited for that??" department.)
Most games where the jackpot is on a shot from an upper flipper will see that happen. Because you don't merely set up one ball on one flipper for one shot. You have to make some other shot just to get the ball to the upper flipper, then the jackpot usually has to be shot on-the-fly rather than...
For most tables, 1-ball games wouldn't be possible. TPA doesn't know how to set the balls-per-game count inside any of the ROMs.
For the tables that are scripted rather than emulated, it would be. But those are also the tables where you'd least want it as half of them go house-ball half the...
I've written before about that around here, but can summarize. Pro Pinball's physics are the best in the business. There's no railroading, because the spatial resolution is super high. A ball at rest on a flipper isn't at exactly the same coordinates every time, it depends on how it got there...
I finally got around to playing this and putting up some scores. 58B first place in the regular game, 14B in tournament mode, 47 second Master of Time.
Unfortunately I can report that the bug still exists where bonus over 2.1 billion (2^31) overflows into negative and subtracts from the score...
Well, automating it in software would be easier than any physical construction. I'm sure you could deliver the right inputs via whatever controller API, and it could be timed frame-perfect that way. Although you'd want to be able to monitor the ball position too since TPA won't always run to...
I remember that too. Broadway City. It didn't last very long, only about 3 years or so. It came after Broadway Arcade closed around 1997, and closed itself sometime around when the Dave & Busters opened up across the street.
Yeah, I live in Jersey City and I don't know of anything local nearby. Barcade by Grove St is the big hipster arcade bar but it doesn't have any pinball. The places to go from here:
- Modern Pinball in Manhattan
- Sunshine Laundromat in Brooklyn
- 8 on the Break in Dunellen NJ (actually not...
The problem with this for TPA is the random elements in the tables. You can't do limited attempts for a tournament until we have proper tournament mode settings. Otherwise you're dependent on the best random results coming up for you (like Cactus Canyon's bonus bounty or TZ's Camera Collect...
"Can't fix it" is BS. Here's how. Implement a logging system that records the physics data every frame. When a ball goes missing, step back through the log frame by frame to see where it jumped through geometry or otherwise disappeared. That has to work. The real answer is too much time and...
You're right. Ringmaster Battle isn't where to get points. You do want the extra ball from it, but getting that is more important than trying to extend the battle for points. This thread way overstates the value of the 1M per Battle shot. You get that much from multiball jackpots anyway and...
I never had rollover problems on TOM. Pretty sure it's the same as other tables, make sure you roll past each 10B mark with a small score. I'm pretty sure that bonus is the only score element high enough to possibly cause it on TOM.
