    Time for new tournament rules?

Not that it's going to make you feel better, but RBION is an odd duck for the 20 minute time limit because the scoring is so chunky with the tours. I didn't do twice as much within 20 minutes as anyone else, far from it. Ignore the numbers. Look past them for what constructed them. The only...

PC tournament starting on June 29

So I put up #1 scores on TZ and Ripley's, and here's the rest of my rundown at the moment: Should have had #1 on Class of 1812 but it missed the rollover and credited me with only 55M not 155M. :P Space Shuttle 11.1M for #2 behind Dizzer2012 (not sure if that's legit). No real secret here...

PC tournament starting on June 29

And on Ripley's, got in that third 2x continent tour RIGHT AT THE BUZZER. 411M final score. Thanks to keeping the first North America Bigfoot going for 35M. Just that Bigfoot accounted for 35M x 7 = 245M of the total. I intentionally just restarted a few times until getting one good Bigfoot...

PC tournament starting on June 29

Oh I knew about it, was just busy the last couple days. Put up 2668M on TZ for #1. Sorry there Space Tractor. :) Took about 8 games before everything went right in the same run. Pretty sure there's no dominant strategy here. You just have to take whatever's lit and available. Multiball, PB...

Ask Questions of Bobby King and FarSight for July BlahCade Podcast!

Great point invitro, thanks for bringing that up. One more impossible shot is the STTNG lock lane from a running feed from the left popper, which always reaches the drop target but rattles around and doesn't quite go in. There are more that I haven't rigorously tested to prove impossibility, a...

Table of the Week Club...Week 22: BIG SHOT

Great post. Thing is, I think Farsight already knows and understands this and just does it anyway and intentionally. It's pretty much impossible by now that they haven't heard our complaints about overviolence on the older tables. So it's deliberate. I think they're aiming for a casual...

    Mobile tournament starting June 26

No, a keyboard can't do any micro nudges in TPA. It's always full strength. But that's actually an advantage anyway, since the nudge is always very powerful and predictable every time. There are a few instances where I wish the keyboard had micro nudge capability; most notably the pegboard...

New! An editable TPA scorecard to share online

Nice work, yes the import works almost instantly. And that comparison page is exactly what I wanted to find tables where I can improve my position. Now if only it would stop listing Tarek above me...

How to tournament difficulty a game.

When a ball rolls down an inlane onto a flipper, flipper hop is when it doesn't go smoothly but bounces a little bit on the transition from the inlane metal surface to the flipper rubber. Makes accurate timing and aiming quite a bit harder. It's usually an annoyance that indicates poorly...

I always warm up on each table in turn before playing it. It's important to get the flipper feel locked in, since that can differ a lot between tables particularly from different seasons. I aim to hit each shot a couple times to refresh my sense of the angles and timing. Also miss each shot a...

    Mechanical keyboards or membrane?

I play with an original IBM Model M clicky mechanical keyboard. Accept no less, that's the Cadillac of keyboards. I feel no lag with the keyboard. I had worse problems with display lag - actually upgraded my monitor just for TPA. Asus monitors are well known for low gaming lag. Is the...

    Strategy.

Nope, keyboard. There is variability in how fast the ball comes out of the habitrail and settles. It doesn't work every time for the Phantom millions, so probably doesn't work every time for the doubling either. But did for me that one critical sweet time. :)

    Strategy.

I had good results doing this. Yes, it's 100% safe if you miss low. It scores slower than ramp millions but very safely and reliably. All those 200k awards add up, as do Doubled Jackpots, and it also gives free organ completions. Heck, it even starts the Phantom million about every seven...

    Table pack #40 speculation

Yes, Farsight could do Monopoly with EA's permission. Problem is, that permission wouldn't happen. EA is known to be extremely heavy-handed and lawyerriffic in licensing deals. And Farsight has limited resources to chase licensing deals and can go after a whole lot more lower-hanging fruit...

Afraid I can't do it this time. I'll be out and busy all day Saturday. It's tempting to stay up and start playing past 1 am Eastern Friday night, but also a bad idea...

    Road show

PC players get that too. Click-drag downwards with the mouse lets you precisely hold the plunger in one place for the release. I can hit the skill shot on Jack*Bot very nearly 100%, for example. (Haven't tried Road Show yet.)

My turn for a leaderboard appeal. I scored 591,054,310 on Phantom of the Opera but it didn't post to or got filtered out from the leaderboard. I got there by way of going infinite on extra balls to 290M to pass Mark Miwurdz, then hit the ball 3 double-your-score shot to 580M. I can see where...

    Table pack #40 speculation

No it doesn't. If it were HS2, it would be something about cars or police or the supercharger or some other actual reference to the table. Referencing Getaway in the form of a truck makes little sense. Also, I still and always say Farsight wouldn't burn their two best remaining DMDs back to...

    Cyclone Tactics and Strategies

No. I collect the Cyclone jackpot before going back to the shooting gallery. Cyclone is so safe if done correctly, might as well take the jackpot. It should be trivial to survive three jackpot sequences before completing the targets a third time. I think so, though that's just a guess based...

Table of the Week Club...Week 21: TWILIGHT ZONE

Well, since I can fully go infinite on TZ, the answer to how many spiral EBs per game would be infinite, but of course that's not a helpful answer. I think the more helpful answer is how many spiral EBs compared to door EBs, which is probably roughly 1/3. I go for the Spiral EB usually when...
