I know, man. While I don't count most of the System 11 tables as "top favorites," overall I feel like that is my favorite era of pinball. There's just something about how those games look, sound and feel that really appeals to me. I can't put my finger on it.
Haha, thanks. $50 buy-in, 48-man tournament. I'm not expecting to do that well, the table contributors will be playing and they have full-time access to their games.
Of the games you listed these are the ones I've played:
X's and O's
Spy Hunter
Hardbody
Party Animal
Heavy Metal Meltdown
Blackwater 100
Party Animal is okay. Not remarkable. Blackwater 100 has an interesting layout, it's pretty cool. But the rest? Not very good. I do want to try a D&D.
The game is excellent! Dr. Who is a table I've only played a few times at a few locations so TPA has given me an opportunity to dig deeper into the game and I'm pretty happy with it.
It leaves a much better impression IRL, like most tables. Keep digging.
This weekend I'll get another chance at...
But any table they buy can be resold for roughly same price, more if they improve it.
Let them burn through System 11s. That would be my dream season. Most of them run about $1k-3k. That's not bad at all. Either the real issue is the WMS licensing or FS employees have bad taste...
I don't think it's that simple. For one thing, Android has a million different hardware configurations. The Samsung phones limit that pool and the Gear VR further focuses the display configuration.
No, Addams does not have it. Everything from Xenon and after does. These are the older tables that have been updated, far as I can tell:
Big Shot
Central Park
Gorgar
Dr. Dude
MM
Monster Bash
... and I think that's it. Their claim about updating a few tables a month is total BS. MM and MB have...
Dude has the new physics. MM has them, too.
You can easily tell just by rapidly flipping. With the older physics the flipper is either Up or Down. New flipper physics have travel, it will only go down partially during rapid flipping.
Exclusivity for the app? Why? I'm not so sure about that, digital pinball is really niche and there has been zero marketing and very little discussion for SPA in Gear VR.
If they put more effort into fixing up the software on all of the platforms they've spread themselves across and were more timely with console updates then they might find their sales pick up.
I'm glad I don't play TPA on consoles...
I've heard Star Trek is just as bad, too. This has been out for months and they haven't made any improvements to existing tables. To my knowledge they haven't even acknowledged that there are performance problems or that fixes are coming.
EDIT I just fired it up and gave AC/DC and SST a try...
They definitely didn't capture the feel of the Who tables I've played. I can lock balls all day IRL. In this version, the loop left of the locks eats up most of my shots or I hit the stand up target. Meanwhile, the right ramp is too easy to hit loops on. Daleks are much easier for me to hit IRL...
I have it. It's playable but it's very unenjoyable. I'm using a Note 5 in Airplane mode and it runs pretty bad. Lots of slow down, especially when the ball nears the flippers. Multiball is a slideshow.
I can't believe they are charging $10 for these new tables on Gear with no trial to test...
I actually do like Gladiators. That might be one case where I wouldn't be upset if they announced it as a table.
Stargate is fine, Freddy is fine, Street Fighter 2 kind of sucks but I like SF enough to be okay with it. Those are all licensed properties, though.
I really don't want anymore...
