Raul Julia was more than the backglass likeness; his voice work is also all over the table. Replacing that might also have been possible but would have robbed TAF of much more of its appeal.
I remember reading that part of the estate issue was that Julia wasn't particularly proud of his Addams...
Multiball strategy: The reward is for starting it (300k-ish points as all the Blastoff contraption kickers fire many times), but yes there is no point to keeping multiball going. What I do is just catch one ball on a flipper and hold it for insurance as I try to play with the others. Don't...
I forget which one offhand, but it's always the same one, for the railroad that I'm talking about. If it finds different lanes for you (and you're not nudging), then it doesn't work the same way on your platform, the Blastoff eject kicker must have randomness that isn't present in my PC and...
Make sure the top two drop targets are down, and that you don't nudge or flip at all. That's the right way to do it. If you've got that right, then the trick doesn't work on your device.
Here is my method to get the O inlane rollover for those too lazy to go find it. It works consistently on PC for me. Slam23 says it works on iOS, fromduc says it works on PS3 with a nudge, and AntonR says it doesn't work on Android.
BTW, this is proof that TPA's physics do work differently on...
Strobe is only ever once per game, yes.
Video Mode can reoccur after every time you activate Super Jets. I vaguely remember some conflicts that override it (maybe if Martian Attack is running, or if RTU starts) but don't recall the details. Video Mode is the only repeatable EB on the table so...
Monster Bash has no problems with rollovers. The software fully supports up to at least the ten billions digit. But you shouldn't go for the #1 spot on that one because reasons.
The video mode bomb has nothing to do with the Martian bombs. You get one use per video mode, always. It destroys the mother ship/cow too if you can save it long enough.
It's impossible. TPA has a limited number of predefined ball trajectories from a catch on any flipper. None of them send the ball up AFM's right ramp. This happens on other tables too: TOM's right orbit, HRC's right orbit, Firepower's bottommost Power target, Taxi's bottommost Pinbot target...
Yes, you can RTU multiple times. I did 18 in my top game. And you don't need to conquer Mars again, and also Super Jets stays lit after RTU if you already got it on this ball. So really all you have to do is the three multiballs and 5-way combo.
Multiball doesn't get harder the second time...
That's easy, technically. GPU hardware does the zooming. Texturing onto a 3D polygon is fundamentally the same thing as 2D scaling. You draw it as a polygon that's oriented flat towards the screen. So the zooming is done by all 96 hardware texture units or whatever in parallel.
Tablets...
Camera angle, portrait view, and a 10" tablet screen instead of 24" are aspects of one same problem. All those together make the flippers and ball really tiny. The visibility just isn't as good for fine details of ball position and movements.
Nudging is hard too, I can't get the hang of...
Yes that's me. I've been all over the Pro Pinball leaderboards since the beginning, and still hold the Timeshock grand champion on the unofficial list.
Although I can't get anywhere at all on the iOS version. Like, I can barely start multiball. Touch screen controls are so foreign after 20...
Not that I'm trying to hijack Tarek's thread, but if you want a face with my name too, here
On Sterns, build quality isn't the problem. I've never felt they're any different than Williams there. But there's an emotional element in the Williams games that's missing from the Sterns. It feels...
You can play only two levels per instance of Video Mode. If you get all the awards in level 1, you move on to level 2 immediately. If you get all the awards in level 2, you move on to level 3 only the next time you activate Video Mode.
I agree that Timeshock's video mode is quite a lot of...
I found that, but here's an easier method. Shoot the hole from the left flipper, then quickly post pass right-to-left before that ball ejects, to free up the right/upper flipper for the million shot. I found shooting the hole from the left much more consistent than from the right.
And yes...
Very cool. I corresponded with him on occasion back when we would compete on the Pro Pinball leaderboards. Whenever Timeshock Ultra gets finished for PC, we're going to have a titanic battle there again.
I agree with pretty much everything he says. I also never compete on real pinball, but...
This, yes, all the way. Total Annihilation is the biggest point source on the table, and yes you get as much from bonus X and victory laps as from TA itself, and yes you abuse it by feeding the orbits and bumpers constantly. On every scoop eject, dead pass and shoot the left orbit again. You...
I don't know for sure if trillion rollovers don't count. Mine didn't, but I don't know if TPA-AFM can't detect it at all or if it just happened to miss it in my case, like it does with rollovers on tables like CFTBL. I think I crossed the trillion mark by way of a very big bonus (100B-plus)...
