Yeah AFM is clearly great. I think Big Shot is fine too, easy to understand and nicely representative of what people think as classic pinball distinct from the modern DMD machines.
Twilight Zone can be intimidating, but for a crowd accustomed to gaming in other forms, they'll pick up on what's...
So we all know how left - right - piano is the soul of strategy on this game in TPA. But that's not the entire story. What happens after that omni-combo? From the tame slot kickout, you can trap on either flipper and shoot pretty much anything you like on the table. There's at least four...
I believe I've figured this out. The ringmaster gives up when you're one shot away from winning. (That happens when the 4th light is illuminated and you score another hit.) Through at least 20 Ringmaster Battle attempts, that's always held true. I've had it going for 5+ minutes without him...
Whirlwind v Twilight Zone - wow TZ keeps getting mediocre opposition to blast through.
Medieval Madness v Attack From Mars - Yikes. I dislike Medieval and want it out, but it's going to win this one. It's not as good a game because of that awkward required stacking of Trolls into Multiball...
Most illusions have no notion of completion. They just run for their timer and award points for however many shots you make, that's it. A few will terminate after a certain number of shots, but there's no extra reward (not even points) for doing so. For getting to Grand Finale, just ignore...
Old thread, but I had a very similar experience. I reached Milwaukee during a Red Light multiball. The first hit to the bike awarded the wizard goal. I'm guessing the wizard goal is really just reaching Milwaukee, it's not meant to require winning the mode for the final Milwaukee Jackpot...
T2 doesn't really have any particular goals, just score points. Despite being a DMD machine, it plays more like alphanumeric-era games like Taxi and Elvira. Most of the points come from multiball super jackpots. A handful of side features help too (Payback Time, chase loop, hurryup), but they...
I own a real T2 and can confirm the bug of the game forgetting its way out of multiball. The super jackpot should be lit, but instead the game suddenly lights up 4 targets instead, hit one and it says "3 more for multiball". This happens even far away from any drains, with two balls in play...
PC is supposed to share the same leaderboard as Sony/Android/iOS. Everything but X360 is together.
Yeah, I had 100M on Taxi, and bumped it to 126M last week.
Funhouse shows my 999.6M, 999.7M by Tarek Oberdieck (new since last week), and the next highest is 846m by WlkBtwnRnDrps. I see this...
Oops, yeah, misread it as Whitewater which is DMD.
Looking back at the preliminary round, "newer era wins" also held in all but one case, Big Shot over Cue Ball Wizard. And by only a single vote did a great EM beat a mediocre DMD.
So in almost every matchup of pins from different eras (EM / early solid state / alphanumeric / DMD), the table from the newer era won. Only Centaur over Bride went the other way, and even then the older era's best narrowly beat the newer era's dullest. I guess technology always marches on.
Medieval Madness v Cirqus Voltaire - CV's rules fit together much better with some fun stacking. I still hate MM's rules around Trolls and Multiball Madness - great if you stack correctly, horrible if you don't (must cycle all the way around through Royal for another chance.) I don't expect...
Pretty stark divide on the timeline for me. From the DMD era, I've played all but two TPA pins (not Champion Pub or Cactus Canyon.) But I've played zero of the machines from 1984 and earlier. In between, I've played only a few of the alphanumeric games (Pinbot, Taxi, Funhouse; not Elvira...
Owner of the new #1 score here, 126 million. I agree, the airport million is where all the points come from.
But multiball is worth shooting for, just to have a surplus ball in play for drain insurance, plus the extra skill shots from plunging. During multiball, I find it's best NOT to go for...
A sphere is not a circle. Take a coin and hold it horizontally near eye level at a shallow sight angle. It will look oval.
If it still looks circular, meaning you can't get your brain to edit past the perspective angle, take a picture at that angle and trace the coin's outline in the 2D...
I reached 53 million on BK, and started up a strategy thread over in the Black Knight forum. Short version: get multiball going all the time (very easy, just plunge at full strength and hold both upper flippers to get an easy lock shot) and keep completing the drop targets to earn extra balls...
Is the voting meant to be for the real tables or TPA versions? I'm going to consider mostly TPA but also a bit of the real machines.
Creature from the Black Lagoon v Champions Pub - Neither are great, but CFTBL is really boring on TPA with the slow plodding methodical...
The Gangway extra ball is NOT limited. I collected it at least five times in a game. Since you can collect both that and the Mystery Mirror EB on every ball, yeah it's pretty easy to play Funhouse forever, you can make up for a ball that drains too quick without completing the mirror.
Quick...
I was also able to stack regular multiball with Grand Finale somehow, which doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet in this thread. That's hard to do since locks are disabled while GF is lit. I think this sequence does it:
- the last component for GF must be Theatre or Midnight (must already...
I discovered this accidentally but it was awesome:
Complete all requirements for Grand Finale except the clock, and get that to 11 PM so Midnight Madness is ready. Also lock a Vanish ball so that Tiger Saw Multiball is lit. Shoot the right orbit and they will all stack together! Not only do...
