Pricing out the electronics, gonna be about $120 or so. Then add cost of wood and hardware. Might not be making this as soon as I hoped. Gonna have to sell a bunch of BlahCade t-shirts first I guess!
The whole ‘preserve the patina’ approach, eh? Is there a way to paint and then distress it to look like it’s old and the paint is chipping? It is an approach I thought about.
It’s amazing how many tables have been left in the dust. Those tables you listed were all on Xbox so I never played them. PS3 had Ninja Gaiden and Street Fighter, which I never purchased but at least sampled. PvZ, South Park, and Ms Splosion Man will start to be lost to time too with them not...
Yet one more reason why I love playing on the PC! Thank you guys for addressing this issue and showing a true willingness to explore the matter and not just wash your hands of it. Now I'm excited for the eventuality of Scared Stiff again.
Picked up some rusty legs (probably just paint them or spray with a bedliner type material), a well worn Bally coin door (no hinges, missing lock mechanism and start button, some rust), a Williams plunger assembly (will need some new springs and some polishing), and 4 arcade buttons for...
I tend to agree. The eye naturally looks at the adjacent color and applies that as a tint to what's underneath. Someone with photoshop skills could isolate just the insert without the scales outline and compare all four to see if that's the case or not.
It’s not a bulb color, but the plastic insert. A blue, orange, and 2 green inserts look to be used in the video. Keep in mind that this is a promo video and could very well be using a prototype machine. Production run might have used white inserts, but I don’t know. All I’m saying is the only...
All Williams tables used incandescent bulbs. None used color changing LEDs. I don’t care what you see in a video, that is not proof as lighting can be retrofitted.
Having now played it this week, I really feel Earth Defense is a swing and a miss. It has a lot of things going for it, but even after reading the rules and semi understanding what to do, the insert lights and where to shoot feels very cryptic. Everything is symbols on the table, and the inserts...
I don’t know the actual plans for those. SPA is supposed to be moving to a free-to-play model that I believe will debut on the VR version. We’re gonna have Mike from FarSight in on the podcast real soon, so hopefully we can all find out more then.
SPA is set to get a new look and launch at least in VR form in the next few weeks. That'll be the basis for where SPA goes from there, even in non VR form. Also the tables in SPA have been, for lack of a more technical term, dumbed down to work within TPA. SPA carries higher system requirements...
Yes FarSight has a small crew but none are part timers or contract programmers. They all work there in the building, their lead programmer has been with the game since at least the start of TPA.
Mel has stated that with licensed IPs, they have to be separated from other IPs as the holder wants all the attention on their table. Plus mixing brands can be tricky.
From everything he has said, it sounds like the first 3 volumes will all be non licensed IPs. But hey, they might surprise us...
I realize that you being on a PS4, you haven't gotten to try the Zen version out for yourself, but I'm curious as to why you are "far from sold" on this.
We do take donations to our BlahCade PayPal account, or you could buy a crap ton of our new t-shirts we’re about to announce 😁
By buddy priced out the box controller for me. One of the big expenses is just the table legs. Anybody got a rusty set they no longer need? Same with plunger assembly...
You've seen it for VR because Jeremy Williams specifically built it for use with FX2 VR! It made a huge splash on Twitter and I know Mel and Bowen have both had their hands on it. Since he programmed it to be recognized as an Xbox 360 controller, it'll plug and play with any of the digital...
