Welcome.
Honestly I'm not sure how it's being handled on PS3, since I'm the Xbox 360 lead. I believe with PS3, when you download the patch, you get all the bug fixes. Then you have the option to download the new DLC tables. Each table pack is a separate download from the patch. Please...
Non-progression bug means one that causes the game to crash or stop functioning properly. The kind of bugs where you have to turn off your console and turn it back on, or exit the game and restart.
We are aware of this. Those values aren't saved to the save game. We're looking into a way to do it in the future, not sure if or when it'll get fixed.
Although I don't know the answer to that. I can say that maps probably get approved very quickly (cause there is no code change, so no need for certification). Our tables require code changes so they require full certification each time we put out new tables.
I have noticed that higher...
I'm hoping that there won't be failures or any need for back and forth with the 1st partys.
Personally, I wish we could just put the tables out when they are done. Unfortunatly we're not allowed to do that.
You are correct, I use the Xbox as primary platform to develop the tables on.
Trust me, we are really frustrated with how long the process takes on the major consoles.
It's not uncommon to ask them how something needs to be done, get an answer (days or even weeks later I might add)...
No problem.
If I remember correctly we had a hack to allow you to adjust the music volume, but it didn't always work properly so we dropped it for Pinball Arcade.
As for the looping music, not sure, might have been a bug with our emulation.
Most of the mobile platforms don't have the power for dynamic lighting. Although it is being worked on for higher end mobile devices. So the lighting is different on the consoles for CV.
We do have dynamic lighting on the consoles, but to handle GI, you would need a few dozen point lights...
Implementing GI is a little complicated, since it's essentially dozens of light bulbs that you would need to simulate. I have some ideas on how to pull it off, I just haven't had the time to implement it.
Also, the 360 playfield lights should be better after the upcoming patch.
If I remember correctly, one of the console makers wanted to fail our PHOF submission because of the way we handled multiple controllers. We had to argue with them to get it approved. We didn't want Pinball Arcade to fail for the same thing.
Really the main issue comes in when you have...
The camera angles, plunger pull distance, new DMD will all be in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. 99% of all the features and all the new tables are implemented on Xbox 360 first as it's my main platform of development.
Thanks PinWiz, you beat me to it. =)
