Yeah I'm kind of surprised you can even run it at all with that integrated setup. One thing you can try is turning the resolution down in-game. Might help a bit.
After playing both more, one area that VPX has the edge is the lighting. Some of the tables are just breathtaking in that regard. I'm hoping Zen ups their game a bit in that department as I do prefer the consistency of Zen's physics.
Just tested on PC and it behaves as it should. If I push the stick left, the table moves to the left and the ball moves right.
Not sure if it's different on consoles. Seems weird if it is.
EDIT:
After testing in practice mode with tilt off, it does actually seem to be backwards
Zen is way ahead of the game, but I do hope they'll continue to work on the lighting. Fish Tales seems more polished in that regard, so I hope they'll give the others the same treatment, and even take it to the next level.
SYT, the time you spent typing all that up, you could've had VPX running :P
Just busting your balls man haha...but we'll enjoy it for ya!
But yeah I totally get where you're coming from. Some people just want things to work and don't have time to mess with settings.
The Loafer nailed it, as usual.
I’m just happy we have actual options for quality pinball nowadays. Zen didn’t really do anything for me until they scooped up the WMS license and gave us realistic physics. VP was always good, but not nearly what it is now. With TPA, we needed the constant...
Right on Loafer. Something to look forward to for sure.
D'oh: I just realized FB Alpha can't emulate Motorola 6809 CPU based titles (yet), so no classic Williams stuff like Joust or Defender. Well, there goes my dream of using just one arcade emulator...damn it.
EDIT:
Looks like I found a...
Good points.
You’re right: it never will be a threat to commercial digital pinball. We’ve been able to emulate the SNES for decades, but that didn’t stop the SNES Classic from selling like hot cakes because of the convenience and simplicity.
One thing I will admit, as I also said in the MAME thread, is I do enjoy the tinkering aspect of it, which of course not everyone else does. I guess after so many years writing code for a living and web development, it’s fun to tinker with something on the PC that’s not work-related, and I’m not...
Sounds like I’ll mostly be sticking to MAME except for maybe the Dreamcast version of Alpha 3.
Haven’t had a whole lot of time to play as I’ve been working on migrating everything over from an old version of MAME to Retroarch so I can just emulate everything with FB Alpha since it can do CPS3...
Exactly!
To me, if you’re gonna go through the trouble (and expense) to make such a controller, you’d want to play the best pinball options available, especially since VPX is matching Zen as the best of the best, and even surpassing it in some ways. By the time you read through the thread, you...
