Good update. Here are some things that I’ve noticed.
UI Settings: Fade
You can't change the camera angle before starting a game. When you have the UI Settings set to "fade", the camera icon will be invisible by the time you can change it. If you blindly stab at this hidden icon, you can still...
On an iPhone 5, during my third game, I’ve encountered a bug in Robot where the right flipper gets stuck. I’m not sure what caused this. By tapping on the right side of the screen, I can’t get it to retract. The game is still responsive, though, other than this stuck flipper. The first ball...
Alternate Fundraising Method
Spitballing here. Farsight says that they want to keep the costs down for the casual fans. This is probably smart. But it also means that they're maybe turning down revenue that the hardcore fans might be otherwise willing to pay.
So maybe instead of doing a...
There's a new pinball title called iPinballs. It's decently done, I suppose, and normally I'd probably buy this. But it's free-to-play bull****. You get one ball for free, and everything else, as far as I can tell, must be purchased using in-game currency. You start with 3,000 coins, I think...
Coming soon to iOS is Pure Pinball: T-Rex Savage, from Swedish developer Legendo (née Iridon Interactive). Previously, they worked on a title that was also called Pure Pinball, for Xbox and Windows. That collection included three tables in the Windows version, and four in the Xbox version. I’ve...
There's a post over at Touch Arcade about the new Marvel Pinball collection. I took it upon myself to hijack the comments and evangelize my favorite iOS pinball, and I wrote a bit about Rob-O-bot. Feel free to pile on, if you want, to try and enlightened the masses who haven't yet found this...
This bodes well for the people clamoring for multimonitor support in the PC version, for pinball cabinets. There, this won’t be just a fleeting thing, but something that’s constantly shown. Should be cool.
Great update. Here are a couple of things that I jotted down while playing with it:
- There’s still an unnecessary in-app restore button for gold members, even when the app already knows that you’ve bought a gold membership
- The end of bonus time always takes me by surprise. Yes, I know...
Good news everybody. Not only can we get these tables in this new collection, and in Pinball HD like mentioned above, but we can also purchase this pretty much everywhere else. No, the standalone apps aren't available yet, like they are for the AC/DC and Slayer tables, so we can only buy these...
I drafted this earlier, when there wasn't a thread, and I wrote this up as an introduction to this collection. Rather than posting a duplicate thread, and reworking what I’ve already written, I’m just going to post this here.

Bug: The web version is unplayable on Macs.
The problem is with the key bindings. The flippers are controlled with the left and right control keys. But on Macs, there isn't a right control key. The only way to enable a right control key is with key remapping software, and it's a bit of a hack...
Perhaps this will be a moot problem after WWDC, and Apple will lift their arbitrary limit on the number of leaderboards that we can have in Game Center. But in the mean time, Google seems to have provided a new cross-platform solution. I haven't looked into it much, but I really doubt that...
But how will you find the controller? Won’t you be “fumbling around to get your hands on the controls”?
Kidding aside. Your point is well taken. And obviously, it’ll be better when there’s full body-tracking support and you can see your hands working the controls. But even before this, a...
Done properly, VR pinball could be even more immersive than an actual cabinet, and at a fraction of the cost. We could look up and see the exact backbox that’s supposed to be there. We could step to the side and see all of the proper artwork on the sides, and everything. And in T2, we could line...
I’ve been having a lot of fun with this update on my iPad. The first camera in portrait works great. But I can’t seem to find an agreeable camera angle that works with the iPhone 5, in either landscape or portrait. There are so many options, you'd think I’d be able to find something.
I’d try...
It's great to see that people are sharing their custom settings, and I’m glad to hear that we'll soon be able to tweak everything on a per table basis.
It's a little tough working with those sliders, though. They're very imprecise, and the speed doesn’t vary the farther away from the slider...
You're not kidding. Too hard for me, right now. I'm sure there's a Goldilocks "just right" custom setting, but I haven't really messed with any of that yet. Don't tell anyone, but I've been playing in "Arcade" mode.
Which reminds me: With local high scores, there's nothing separating Arcade...
