    Bug Android: Gorgar lane shift?

The first pinball machine to have "lane change" for lit rollover lanes was Firepower, in 1980, which was the year after Gorgar. The feature caught on pretty quickly after that, though Black Hole (from a different company) didn't have it. The programmer on Firepower, who implemented the feature...

    Five things about yourself

    1. I was trained as a particle physicist. 2. I can trace my current career back to a connection I made at a high-school science fair in 1986. 3. The first time I saw They Might Be Giants was on the Flood tour. 4. The old lolcat "SKEPTICAL CAT IS FRAUGHT WITH SKEPTICISM" is a picture I took about...

    Non-existing lycenses

...and at least one hobbyist made a physical custom Ghostbusters table, which looks pretty awesome.

    Non-existing lycenses

As I've said before, Ghostbusters seems so blatantly pin-worthy that it's almost hard to believe there wasn't a Ghostbusters table. There was Gottlieb/Premier's "Bone Busters Inc.", an obvious knockoff theme. I wonder if it was the aftermath of a failed attempt to get the license, or just...

TPA versus your average Real Life Machine

Keep in mind, too, that one of the most common things that happens when a machine wears out is that the flipper solenoids get weak, to the point that the machine seems superficially functional but it's simply impossible to make many shots, especially ramp shots. It can get pretty fast-draining...

    MM overrated?

The last art update to Medieval Madness seems to have narrowed the flipper gap. Between that and the improved physics, the table feels a lot easier than it used to, almost to a fault: with my meager skills I can blow through 3 or 4 castles pretty frequently, and I used to have serious trouble...

    AGE of TPA players

...you know, spiking my hair to conceal baldness never even occurred to me, and humanity should probably be thankful. I always assumed I'd go bald early, based on extensive family history (I got it from both sides, but the particular pattern I've got is definitely Dad's), and fortunately I...

    AGE of TPA players

My 6-year-old daughter has played a little TPA on the XBox (and PHoF on the Wii, and some real-life pinball with me in arcades), though she seems to have moved on to other things at the moment. I suspect she'd be drawn back if TPA ever got The Addams Family, because she loves that table.

It's a little-known fact that ear hair is directly correlated with pinball mojo.

Bug Multiple Balls Get Stuck in Dagger Scoop

I've mentioned the same kind of thing happening with the Boogie/BBQ Bonus hole in Elvira and the Party Monsters. Nudging the table can sometimes shake one of them loose, though you might have to tilt.

    Request Fix the disappearing ball!

The DMD bug isn't unique to Funhouse; it appears occasionally on all the tables with two-line alphanumeric displays (EatPM, Taxi, Bride of Pin*Bot). I think it's some kind of timing-dependent thing, since it doesn't happen all the time.

    General pinball strategy

Some tables (e.g. most of Pat Lawlor's) tend to send the ball from successful shots to a scoop kickout that is angled so that the ball is catchable (usually trivially in TPA, somewhat more trickily in real life). That really encourages controlled, stop-and-go play. Steve Ritchie seemed to...

Difficulty on TZ and star trek

I think the main idea is just to avoid the bumpers entirely, if you possibly can. Hard-plunge to opt out of the skill shot once you've gotten the door panel, don't go for the Hitchhiker, and try hard to make your shots.

    I demand Pin*Bot!

The real table is pretty drainy (but fun). I didn't think PHoF made it much worse than in reality. For some reason Pin*Bot was one of my very favorite PHoF tables, along with Firepower and Taxi.

    Christmassy Movies?

Yeah, there were adaptations of The Colour of Magic/The Light Fantastic (Sean Astin played Twoflower and Tim Curry was the villain), and Going Postal.
