You are right. At first i thought it's an issue with 5:4 stuff, but after two alt enters the image is on all the pixels of the screen, no black bars on either side.
Took screens from 1600x1280, to 2880x2304.

First is blurry, last needs more gpu power...
Yup, my bad! It's a 19" with 1280x1024.
2560x1920 buffers is too much even for this card on civ multiball... During crazy action it sometimes goes to 56-57-58, just enough to distract... Guess it needs MOAR gpu power, lower buffers, or some more optimization.
Right, it will come on all platforms.... i was scared for a moment this might be some sony deal, but in hindsight it didn't make any sense for valve...

"Portal pinball will be available on Zen’s pinball platforms the week of May 25th, 2015."
Got the same 7770. The card is garbage. It's worth no more than ~55$ used. Can't play CIV either at 1280x1024. Well, you can play it, but with crappy low buffers that make the table look like a 15 year old game...
Other tables that seem complex and with lots of lights run smooth. Strange...
Called it....

Buffers 2160x1620, 8x, on a 1280x1024 screen - http://s4.postimg.org/qsr7op66j/2160x1620_8x.png
It's not 4k, but decent...
Gemini did a nice job with the feedback. I don't know when they plan to release non beta dx11, but the task of "tuning" all the tables seems a nightmare... Somehow the dx9 version seems very polished to me right now!
It's all in the Back Buffers!
You have to play with values to find something good. I'm on 2160x1620 (custom value) to make it use all the pixels on a 5:4 1280x1024 screen.
Back buffers and gpu scaling from the gpu control panel. Our new friends!
Not sure if the "4k" screenshots are with true 4k back buffers. Looks like pre "Fixed configuration to set DX11 settings properly", when the game was at 1920x1080.
Tested. Result are like this:
Started with buffer height 2160. Various widths give bad results, as the flippers were not visible. 1280x2160 gave some kind of usability, but with black borders left and right.
"Fixed configuration to set DX11 settings properly"
Here are my findings on a 5:4 - 1280x1024 screen.
Back buffer 1280x1024 does not make the image right. In full screen there are some black bars all around, and the actual screen is 1280x960 (as seen on the print screen after).
I found out my...

This makes 0 sense. You have a monitor, 16:10, 16:9, 4:3, 5:4. You should have games using ALL the pixels of the screen. TPA dx9 DOES that on my 1280x1024 5:4, so does GTA5. Not a pixel wasted and NO black bars up and down. I don't want 16:9 content made to fit with padding, i would like tpa...
- Running the game on a 1280x1024 monitor, i see black borders up and down, as if watching a 16:9 movie. Dx9 version runs full screen, taking all of the pixels, without any black borders. I would like dx11 to use all the pixels on a 5:4 display.
Anyoen wih a 16:10 display?Does the dx11 version...
- There needs to be a slider for the DMD brightness (or 2-3 intensity settings). It's too bright when the room light is low and it distracts.
- Vibrations are too strong compared to the dx9 version (360 gamepad). Low - normal - high would be nice
- Many tables need the ball to have more SHINE...
This seems like common sense...
The problem is they waited too long and the pile got huge.
I'm hype for dx11. After we see how all the tables look on pc, this should be next on the list.
