360 - Bug Funhouse. 464m. Ball one. No balls inplay or by plunger. Call attendant not working.

Yep. The difference being, though, that if the ball is really just stuck somewhere on a physical table, this procedure actually has a chance of working, whereas if the virtual world surrounding the pinball emulation has glitched into some impossible state, there's no hope. The poor ROM thinks...

360 Screen tearing on Cirqus Voltaire's playfield mounted DMD

I definitely see this too in CV on the 360. It's as if the framerate of the simulated in-table DMD isn't commensurate with the framerate of the game, which I guess would be no surprise. Having wrestled with screen-tearing problems on real devices, I could imagine this being tricky to fix...

    Favorite Platform?

Nudging is a lot easier with the 360 controller stick than with touchscreen or shake controls. On the other hand, I'm not sure it's more realistic: usefully nudging a real pinball cabinet isn't that easy, and has a very different feel to it. On Android, I can't decide whether touchscreen or...

Which tables are NOT a possibility?

I actually did encounter a Superman recently; they've got one at Funspot. But I didn't get familiar enough with it to say much about the gameplay. It seemed to drain pretty fast.

Why is real pinball so much harder than TPA?

They definitely do. The last time I tried to play real pinball after some time playing mostly TPA and PHoF, I realized that I had a grasp of ball trapping that I'd lacked previously (though it steered me wrong on a couple of peculiar old tables like Paragon that had nonstandard lower...

Which tables are NOT a possibility?

I might be kind of interested in the Atari tables; at the very least, they looked great. But you're right; the level of interest in them is probably not enough for Farsight to try to chase down the IP.

    Black Knight first impression

They're Williams sounds, and Williams made several of the greatest arcade videogames of the 1980s (often programmed by Eugene Jarvis, who worked on many of Williams' greatest pinballs as well). You can hear several of them in Robotron 2084.

    Favorite Platform?

Of the two I've got, the XBox 360 gives the best game experience by far, so I voted for it. But, in practice, I end up playing on Android far more often, because it's always there (and has more tables).

    Worst release so far?

Black Knight isn't my favorite, but I think the bugs and scripting deficiencies in the current TPA version are detracting somewhat from the actual table's appeal. I'd like to see an overhaul with ROM emulation. Long before I'd played much pinball, I knew about Black Knight, because I'd read a...

    What's your "dream pack"?

Well, there's a limited supply of PHoF tables, especially considering that they're unlikely to do all the old EMs from the Gottlieb collection. Presumably when they run out (and if TPA is still a live project then), the packs will be less predictable.

    P3 prototype table....

If someone ever makes a video display that you can easily cut into irregular shapes and drill holes through, it'll help a lot with this kind of thing.

Comment by 'Matt McIrvin' in article 'The Pinball Arcade Prepares To HIT THE ROAD With DLC Tables Pack #5'

Taxi is quite possibly my favorite table in Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection. It'll be interesting to see the updated version.

PHOF Gottlieb Collection is more accurate than TPA?

Unfortunately, while the older Williams solid-state tables like Gorgar and Black Knight are eventually supposed to get CPU emulation, it doesn't sound so likely with this one. The pop bumper on the lower playfield closing the gate has been a major topic of discussion here. I get the impression...

    Ball vanished

As mentioned in other threads, I've seen a bug a couple of times (on Android) in which the ball locks in the upper playfield lock and I don't get a new ball, which effectively halts the game. The locked ball hasn't disappeared, since I can see it in there. There's just no new ball. You can't...

    Bug New Game doesn't start

I've seen the bug in the original post pretty frequently on the 360. I'm sure I saw it on the core tables before the DLC came out, so it's not exclusive to any of the DLC tables.

DLC #4 video for Creature and Black Knight.

Black Knight has a lot of scripting bugs, though. I'm hoping they can get emulation for these old tables up and running pretty soon, which should fix the problems of this variety. Creature from the Black Lagoon, on the other hand, is one of the best table releases yet, and you can tell they've...

    Favorite Rudy line?

With PHoF's physics, it seemed like the ball was forever getting caught behind the open trap door if it came in from the other side; it'd hang there for a few seconds while Rudy did his "heh heh heh". In the TPA version, for some reason, this doesn't happen so much; it just falls down into the...

Tables for the rest of the year?

Actually, that would be kind of awesome. Might not rake in the dough, though.

    The Shadow

Could be a good companion to Medieval Madness, just because of casting. Enough of your peasant pinball, Liz Lemon! This is the Third Heat!

    Bug TPA Flipper Bug Confirmed

While I don't know how the actual physics engine works, what I imagine is that it'd detect the collision if the unperturbed path of the object would have intersected the surface since the last time step. That, in itself, wouldn't be prone to frame-rate problems. But it wouldn't be efficient to...
