Funny, with all this Dreamcast love, I'm a bit of a dissenting voice.
My wife bought me a DC for our anniversary the January after the DC's launch. I went over to the local Hasting's to rent some games and they had basically nothing I was interested in. A couple dozen games but nothing I...
I expect to wait at least a year on the PS4. I bought my PS3 in 2010 and am thankful I missed any launch window bumps and bruises. My plan is to wait that stuff out on the PS4 as well. Also, I'm cheap and want the price to come down. And, finally, I have a ton of games on my PS3 that I...
I only played a couple - Zork II and Deadline. I found them to be frustrating. The killer was when I was playing Deadline and entered "South" and then "North" and ended up somewhere different than I'd started. That's when I stopped playing.
For me it's the various lanes. The dividers just totally blend in with the table - it's like the table is completely flat with no depth at all in places - and it really hampers my ability to play the table.
I didn't have a problem with the look of Attack from Mars but Genie is waaaaaay blown out.
Having played a bit more over the weekend on STTNG and AFM, it really sank in for me just how amateurish the new menu UI is. The whole thing looks like clip art just slapped on top of a background and strongly reminds me of a late 90s Geocities web site or something. Yeah, it's functional...
I decided to pick up this table pack over the weekend. My thoughts:
- as others have mentioned, the ball seems REALLY fast at times. It's almost like there's a skewed scale/perspective or something - where the top half of the table plays at one speed and then the ball moves a lot faster on...
I have reiterated several times over the last few months that flipper lag is still an issue with the PS3 version of TPA when playing in 720p. I've been adamant that it's still an issue for me playing in 720p.
So, yeah, about that.......
Seems that, unlike what I thought and could've sworn...
Get PS+ and set it up to have your PS3 automatically download patches overnight while you're sleeping.
That's just one reason to get PS+. The dozen free games up front and new free game every week or two are a better reason.
I definitely find Zen to be more responsive.
It could be lag but I don't think so. It's hard to explain. Hitting the underside of the ball and having it shoot DOWN instead of up (underside being as if looking straight down at the table , not the part of the ball actually touching the table)...
I don't agree that it's fixed in 720p.
Yes, they've mostly fixed ball-through-flipper stuff but the overall flipper physics are still terrible. The way the ball interacts with the flippers, in terms of angles of shots, is simply wrong a lot of the time.
I spent a ton of time on PHOF on the...
Direction of the product = bugs that continue to be carried forward on new tables, tables with wrong/inaccurate colors, flipper lag that's unfixed, a UI that's gotten worse, and so on. In other words, the product doesn't seem to be getting better. THAT is what I meant by "direction of the...
Is it just me or did the flippers change color from the preview screenshot of Genie to the actual PS3 release?
FWIW, this is the first table pack I have not purchased on release day for the PS3. That's in part because the tables didn't excite me - never seen or played AFM and don't like Genie...
