What would be even cooler would be to attempt to render the infinity-mirror effect in 3D, instead of just showing a flat photo of it. Maybe just for the console/PC versions...
Black Hole in real life is an impressively cool-looking machine.
Tried it again... It seems to happen about 50-60% of the time. On some games, "ME GOT YOU" always plays when the ball goes in the Snake Pit. On others, I see the light show and hear the Snake Pit buzz, but not Gorgar's dulcet tones. I haven't heard "GORGAR HURT" yet.
("GORGAR SPEAKS" at the...
This is still present in 1.0.8. My screen is small enough that it's almost impossible to read Cirqus Voltaire's DMD on the rendered playfield, so I like to have the HUD on, and it keeps turning itself off.
And not all licenses are prohibitively expensive; some like RBION and Monster Bash (Universal Monsters) apparently don't require any donation campaign at all. I suppose the success of these Kickstarters could have the perverse effect of making rights-holders think they can hold out for more...
One of the things I love about this table is that it's not only a great Steve Ritchie pinball, it captures the ambiance of the TV show to an amazing degree while translating it into the pinball world. It's some combination of the original cast voices ("Q! We don't have TIME for your GAMES!")...
I just think that a ST:TNG stretch goal for a Twilight Zone Kickstarter, without "Star Trek" in the title and with no Star Trek-related criterion for funding, was unlikely to attract any Star Trek: TNG fans who weren't already interested in the Twilight Zone pinball table. It got a nice little...
Yep, that's the same thing PiN WiZ and I saw. For me, it was sufficient to go to application management under Settings and force-quit the app, so it would restart on reentry; I didn't have to delete and reinstall it. It's as if there's some code under Activity.onCreate() that should be under...
Hmm, subtle are the ways of Gorgar. I've always admired his man-about-town savoir-faire. Hard to say what was happening in my case.
Another thing I noticed was that, as with earlier versions, I seemed to have to force-quit and restart the game before it noticed that I'd actually bought the...
Maybe I just didn't listen hard enough, but is Gorgar not saying "ME GOT YOU" when he's supposed to? I got the achievement, but the gentleman's usual rapier wit was strangely absent.
According to Kicktraq there's only been one net negative day so far. In the past day things actually picked up slightly. DLC#3 landing on the mobile platforms will probably help.
Oh, man, I'd like that. LOTR has the distinction of being the only real-world pinball I've actually become a fan of recently, that is, in the last decade.
As I've said before, though, I do wonder how many times they can pass the hat for licensing fees. I've been assuming that beyond TZ...
Nudging with motion control actually worked surprisingly well with the Wii controllers. I haven't tried that option on Android yet; my phone is so light that I imagine I'd be getting tilts all the time, but maybe I'm wrong.
The latest news would seem to be evidence against the "PS3 DLC held up under orders from Microsoft" theory. It is, however, pretty much what I expected when news of the last rejection came out.
My favorite Gottlieb sim actually wasn't any of the Farsight tables, it was Royal Flush (distributed by Broderbund on Windows, free/shareware on the Mac). That was a great 1970s EM machine, and the simulation was itself a great piece of work, with magnet mode and user access to the backbox...
PHoF (on the Wii, at least) had a common bug in which a fast-moving ball would simply fly through a wall and vanish into the aether. In that case, for The Williams Collection they had a serviceable hack in which the game would automatically detect that this had happened and just give you a ball...
My guess (not original to me) is that a problem on the original Wii is storage. PHoF came on an optical disc, so there was no problem with this. But Pinball Arcade is built around DLC, and a Wii just has 512 MB of internal storage; the game would really have to store tables on an external SD...
The reason they named Star Trek: TNG as the next big licensed pinball is that they're done with the necessary negotiations for that one; the licensing requirements are a known quantity. Star Trek and The Twilight Zone are both now CBS Corporation properties, so at least some of the details...
My daughter just went to two, count 'em, two Avengers-themed kids' birthday parties. Of course, they were probably planned several weeks ago, during the run-up to the opening weekend. But the appeal seems to have lingered. The Lego store is still moving a lot of Avengers merch.
Still, if...
