Death saves (the non-kicking version) won't damage the machine, but they're murderous on floors. My two machines sit on a plywood panel to protect the carpet underneath them, and you can easily see the gouges in it from my occasional overenthusiastic save attempts.

Well, I'd have to update it for v1.68 first. They changed a lot with how the lower playfield works, mainly because Highway to Hell and Hell's Bells were a quick way to (relatively) safe points in tournament play.

The master issues lists that are publicly visible on this forum are no longer being maintained (because I no longer have the time to maintain them). They're not the internal ones that FarSight uses.
At the moment, TAF Gold is exclusive to the kickstarter backers. There has been some talk/speculation about if and when it might be released publicly, but there has been nothing confirmed.

Change the ball to something other than the default steel ball and try again. If the Powerball appears when using a nonstandard ball but not with the default ball, it's an issue from a long time ago that periodically resurfaces.
Is there no way to get Steam's installer/patch manager/whatever to test the client's OS and not perform the upgrade if the OS version number does not meet a certain minimum value? (In Windows, such a test is easy, but I have no idea how things are on Steam.)
