The only tables where it seems necessary are the really old 50s tables with four out-lanes and frankly I've yet to use a digital nudge control that was sufficiently like the real thing to bother even then. Most of the time I end up either tilting or ensuring the ball drains!
I very rarely nudge the table in real life; the only reason I do it in the iPad is if the ball is stuck in a loop in Scared Stiff or because of the Cirqus Voltaire Highwire lock ball rattle. I tend to treat pinball like pachinko that way: if it drains it drains.
Hopefully Nintendo will be more flexible in that regard. Although Zen 2's DLC on Wii U is rather clunky, it's not clear how much of that is down to Zen and how much Nintendo.
One thing that would make Dr. Who easier is the UK is less litigious than the States and the BBC are definitely into monetizing IP. I don't think actor likenesses in this case are that difficult because these aren't Hollywood actors we're talking about either.
Point taken on your last issue...
It always felt like there were a lot of multiballs, but it wasn't until I started trying to get the "hit all targets on a single ball" goal that I realised how ridiculous it is. I mean it's just about impossible not to trigger a multiball on the Harley table - especially if you're going for the...
Agreed. I can remember having games that were over in a couple of minutes in real life. I generally did pretty well at it and that's pretty much the same experience I'm having with the Pinball Arcade. Still one of my faves even in virtual form.
No kidding, guess what my last standard goal on that table is; it should be a Wizard Goal!
I don't play with any particular goal normally beyond getting a better score. Trying to get the table goals provides a motivation to do things on the table I would otherwise probably only discover by...
My current platform is iOS on iPad.
Let me firstly say that I play Pinball Arcade more than any other game on any other platform; pretty much on a daily basis and I think all things considered you guys are doing a great job.
I only have a few issues presently:
Fix the remaining issues with...
I'm not sure how making the ramps opaque would indicate it was rushed; the table has been updated at least once since it was released though I won't pretend to know what was changed.
How will Pinball Arcade handle DLC, I wonder? Or kickstarter rewards for that matter? I ask because Zen Pinball 2 released in Europe yesterday. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet because I wanted to download some demos. There is no way to do this in-app, though there are packs visible...
I still find this game quite playable, but after watching that video I totally agree that if emulation isn't presently possible re-scripting is a must for multi-ball. Quite exciting!
@Kevlar, Anni: You don't believe that's the issue? So what's your alternate theory, Farsight intentionally made the ramps opaque just to piss off fans of the table?
I wouldn't say I regret any of them (though until recently I would have said that about Harley and Creature from the Black Lagoon), however there are a couple tables I don't intend to double-dip on when the Wii U release comes out: Ripley's and Harley Davidson. I suppose it's possible I'll buy...
I've never played nor seen The Addams Family machine and I have little to no feeling about the license either. If that's what people want more than anything fine, but I can't see doing any more kickstarters myself.
Sorcerer looks cool and it has the bombastic fantastic sounds like Firepower and Gorgar. Plus that row of targets...I dunno, the first time I played it I wasn't impressed, but it really started to grow on me the more I played.
